Are you sure you want to use Teflon tape and not thread sealant?

Ive heard either can work. I have the teflon tape handy so i will give that a whirl.

I got it all done and found that my PS pump has a small dent/hole in the side of it. No clue were it came from. So i need to weld that up and i "should" be good.

Got my shackles on too.

Lemme come take pictures of it, w/ my new super-badazz camera!
I forgot to bring it over yesterday....

I was gonna mention the teflon tape-thing....
My bad. :doah:

I ground the fitting that goes into the bottom port in my steering box because it was bottoming out before fully sealing. So that should cure the small drip I had from there. Got the hole patched on my ps pump reservoir.

So when I get home today the truck is going up on jackstands and I'm gonna bleed it till my arms fall off and hope that it is good to go.

That's why you need to try to con some kids into turning the wheel back and forth for you. They think it's fun. :D

Got it bled! I'm good to go now.

Here are a few crappy pics of my power steering reservoir

That's a good idea on the power steering resevoir filler neck, Chris. That thing is always such a pain to put fluid in. I wonder if there's an aftermarket filler neck that's similar. :thumb: The NorCal filler? or the NorCal Neck?

Pic's first.... (Vid's are loading.)

What size of rims that? And back space?

Morning Chris, real nice progress; the rig has come a long way from page 1! Did you make any pump mods in relation to this http://westtexasoffroad.homestead.com/powersteering.html
I think I read you made some changes.
Just like Munepit I'm in the process of going hydro assist, so I'm curious how it all worked out for you.:waytogo:

Thanks! The only mod i did to the pump was drill out the hole to 5/16. i didnt want to mess with pressure because of the fear of seals and the pump blowing prematurely. It seems to be working awesome. Will have to get some vids out wheelin and get some real world results.

I got that idea from my old mustang. The ford power steering pumps have a super long neck and i remember it was nice filling them. This way i get more capacity, and its in an awesome place to fill.

Right on Chris!!!! I am getting close to installing everything also. I am glad you got it fixed. So, It just had air in the lines. Sweet!!!!

I like the NorCal goose-neck reservoir.:waytogo:

One question for you -

Can you give dimensions to the center of where you drilled & tapped the gearbox?

Norcal HydroAssist layout Question.JPG

Norcal HydroAssist layout Question.JPG

2 ½" from the end of the gearbox where the end cap threads into the gearbox

1/2" down from the casting line

look at the back of the housing and locate the plug that is installed after the original machining of the housing is completed. I then went about 3/4 down that imaginary line and drilled.
