Well I have fuel and it's turning over but the hei is dead to the world.

I know it's getting power.

So now I need to diagnose but I think my brand new distributor is broken from the start.

This is getting really old to me.

I have another distributor that I'll probably swap in.

Stoooopid, but make sure the dizzy gets power in crank/start as well as run. I had some difficulty finding the right place to tap power that was live in both.

So in some vehicles the column will cut power to start the engine....im going to go see if im still hot at the distributor when its cranking.

I seriously wouldnt know how to fix that. The pump runs when its supposed to?

Choke power will tend to run hot while cranking also. My setup uses the coil wire from my EZ harness to trigger a relay that provides multiple things will clean "off the battery" power.

Also, make sure that HEI plug hasn't pushed the pins up into the cap and have come loose. My MSD will do that some times, so I plug it in, remove the cap, and push the pins back into the plug from the top. Just sayin'

You best be ready for Rubicon and Fordyce 2017 :D

Yeah I got a brand new connector from summit. Checked it out and it's making contact.

So my fitech is driven off of the key of course but once your 2 clicks forward the pump runs and the final sprung click is to turn the engine over. I know I have this thing pinned out right...Maybe it is killing the power to it. It's just weird that I wouldn't have any spark at all on a brand new distributor.

Oh I'll be ready!!

Ok so I found the culprit!

It turns out the wire I was using was indeed cutting voltage when the starter engaged.

So I found that the pink wire is in fact hot on the second click through to the start function, so that's the wire I need to be hooked up to for ignition/fuel.

Which means my distributor is probably just fine.

I got a new meter for xmas. Soo much better then the old shitty mini one I had!
