73 K20....crossmember time

So after I broke it in I had a radiator hose blow off haha. Literally emptied the rad but luckily it wasn't very hot. Nice and soupy in the garage now haha. So I'll fix that tomorrow and then run it some more!

I need to clean up some of the wiring, bolt the steering column in then I'm on to the next project...plenty to choose from lol.

I would like to finish up the cage. That would be a huge deal. Not too much left on it.

Formaldehyde is lethal in California.... lol glad it's running! Can't wait to get back on mine!

Took the words right outta my mouth... :sign1:

Haha everything fun is lethal here!

That's why I made my bed out of asbestos!

:rotfl: :haha: Is that why you're so lonely over there? :wink1:

Nice work. On the truck that is, you might want to rethink the whole asbestos thing... ;)

Another little video. Rings are starting to wear in so the idle is picking up. Engine twists the whole truck when I wing the throttle lol. Still can't get the fans going. I know I've got power in and fitech is aware I'm running a fan. Maybe a bad relay. It did go through a river on the pin lol.

Had some trouble getting the fans working but I figured it out.

Not sure why but I thought the FiTech provided 12v to kick the relay coil closed to start the fans....that's not true.

It's providing ground to what used the be the fan system (derale) thermocouple. So now I got that out of the way. The fans work and boy do they keep up. Now that I don't have a condenser blocking air, a Caitlin Jenner cooler and a damn oil cooler in front of the rad.

I put about 30 minutes on the engine today. So far so good. I'll finish up fan wiring tonight and start clearing up the mess of wires I've created.

Run that FiTech fan signal into the cab and through a toggle switch so you can flip them off for the rivers.

Thats the plan. I could interrupt the 12v from whatever I choose to hook it up to in the cab to...lol provided im smart enough not to kill the lights and the fan at the same time!

If you wired the relays in the cab interrupting the 12v makes sense. But if the relays are outside the cab just interrupt the ground. No sense in bringing extra 12v in. Much safer and easier to repair a ground controlled switch.

Thats the plan. I actually just bought a rocker switch panel so I'll incorporate the ground into that. May have to flip it so when the rocker is in it is making the ground loop.

So what are the big items left to do on this?

Well big items would be:

Finish 24 bolt regear

Lengthen rear driveshaft

Mount bed

Finish the rollcage

Mount the driver seat

Get the clutch stuff working

Run the brake lines

Get a front driveshaft made

Regear the d60

Put windshield back in

Finish the front shocks

Fab up the rear shocks

Realistically if I could just get the brakes, clutch, driveshaft, bed, 14 bolt done and tank mounted I'm nearly ready for a stroll around the block.

There's so much stuff still but one thing at a time. It can get dizzying thinking about it all. Hell I've already remembered several things I forgot to mention above.
