Isnt the idler shaft tapered? Knock it in and then tighten it.
shaft is pressed in tapper on the 1 end . has nothing to do with holding the gear setup for torque setting on the nut . just click it 120-130 ft lb and be done .

What magnet? Mine had none when I disassembled. Sounds like someone forgot this one too between 1972 and now. HahaI always forget the magnet lol
