73 or 84 K5 wich would you do and why.

Which ever is in the best condition obviously, but if they are close I'd go for the 73. Full verts are just plain cooler.

Yep go for solid body, with a straight frame, everything else is just details....

Not sure about the smog laws where you are, but for sure a 73 out here in CA...or a 74 like I have. Love the full vert!

Here in Cali I would go for the pre-smog year 74' 1000%.

I started with 2 74's in my backyard and planned on finishing with a built 74 but after taking the top off a few times by myself, I realized that I wasn't going to be doing that much. I'd think about the wheeling you do. Are you taking friends out? Will you be doing a lot of social type wheeling where you want to have folks with you enjoying the scenery and the ride? Would you consider a soft top? Or, are you going camping, exploring, etc. with it by yourself or just with a friend or family member.

For me it came down to the fact that I wheel by myself or with a buddy, don't ever take the top off, sleep in the back sometimes when it rains, carry a lot of gear, and don't hard core on the rock crawling like the Rubicon. I explore the desert and go for long trips at a time. So, the 2 74's got sold and I went with a 76. The top hasn't been off yet and probably never will. At the time we still had the 30 year rolling exemption for smog but good old Arnold screwed me big time after I got the 76. Missed it by a year.

You could always make a blazer a full vert so if the 84 is in better shape get it. Are there price differences in the two?

i definitely like the full vert option.so 73 if its in good shape.also dont have emissions to deal with which is nice.

I just got done looking at the 84, The engine was a crate engine well used but wtill sounded clean no hickups or hard starts, the tranny seemed to be good shifted decent, the interior was pretty bad some rust on the back gate, the window did not go down, everything on the inside seemed to barely be working if working at all, But the body was straight and the frame looked good suspension looked decent needed new rubber on some joints, overall I had a good impression that it was a daily driver did leak a lil oil could not tell where. So I will now take a look at the 73 from the pic the body was nice and straight all white full conv, with nice rims and tires.
