I've read the post on converting a 90's cab to a 73 cab. Can I cut and install a 73 soft top on my 90 model blazer with out replacing windshield frame? I will not run a hardtop. I do plan on installing a full custom cage and possible putting in some sort of rocker box. . I plan on using an stc top. Has anyone done this?

thanks

I haven't seen how the STC monuts to the front part but I had a blazer and the Previous owner built a soft top for it and just attached it to the top of the fame so any 76-91 top that was cut for a conversion would work with it.
If STC attached it to stock bolt locations on the 73 then it won' work.
:o

You should be able to do that.
My STC top on my '74 uses an aluminum strip that is screwed into the top of the windshield frame. (add-on).

Take a look in the picture below and you should be able to see the stip that I had to put on for the STC top.

(Oh, forgot to add: this is a Fastrack top)

Thanks
I'm going to get new sawzall blades this weekend!

i first read this and though, "this SOB is gonna cut a 73 SOFT TOP to fit his 90's truck????" Then i stopped and realized you're cutting the hard top off the truck, not cutting the soft top!

Good to know, that means I can easily do a full vert on my 76 when I decide to.
:D

Had the same question recently............if you use a soft top, you can just cut yer '76-'91 windshild frame and use it as is.............pics of my '73 and '75 that both have STC tops.
