74 K5 Clifford's Budget Rebuild

Then I took a week of vacation and knocked out a large chunk of the build racing to get it running and driving. I didn't make the deadline but I still got a lot done. Unfortunately I didnt take pics of progress. So her is the result 10 days of non stop wrenching

During that time I put in a th400 with a new b&m hole shot torque converter with 2200 stall, np205 tcase, got a driveshaft built, poly trans mount, transcrossmember bolted in, new to me gas tank and 40" truxus tires mounted

Doesn't sound like a lot but when your doing it the right way making sure everything is aligned it takes a while

Had to put in a new seal on the tcase output

Then I had to make a shorty trans dipstick because my big block is too close to the firewall for a stock style dipstick

Here's a quick how to build a dual exhaust for 75 dollars not including muffler price. I don't quite remember the exact prices but off the top of my head it was something like this
4 45 degree bends from autozone = 32 dollars
2 pieces of 2 1/2 straight pipe = 20 dollars
2 2 1/2 exhaust flanges = 15 dollars
2 2 1/2 couplers = 8 dollars

I'm not going into detail describing how I did it because it is a fairly simple job and the pics are self explanatory, if you have any specific questions feel free to ask

If you do attempt to build your exhaust make sure you get everything mocked up exactly how you want it before you touch your welder, then make sure you get good tack weld all around your joints because you don't want it to move when you pull out the exhaust to fully weld it
Painted it with chevy red header paint. Looks orange though, btw those are flowmaster original 40's

I happy with how the exhaust turned out, nice and quiet. I can actually hear people talk now
Bought a tailgate! Annnndddd ...

A dana 70 with 4.10 gears and a limited slip diff out of a 2000 Dodge Ram 2500
Annnnndddd .....
4 16.5x10 wagon wheels so I can run hmmwv tires

I ordered a shackle flip, u bolts and spring plates for the dana 70 from diy4x. I then rebuilt my leaf springs to get ready for the shackle flip only to find out one had a crack. Went to the junkyard to get some replacement springs and ended up getting a set of 60 inch leafs off a Dodge Ram 1500 for 50 bucks old leafs

I put the shackle flip on this weekend but haven't taken pics yet, I'll update the thread later this week
