Hey there. Has anyone removed one of these before? Sits right under your foot and has the caged square nut for the body mount. On the 74 its sandwiched between the floor board and the torque pan. Reason I ask is it looks like a major pain of tight spot welds in all direction. The front half of my where it attaches to inner rocker is trashed, up towards the caged nut is rusty but fine. Thinking of grafting on a patch. Been doing lots of rust repairing this area. Rockers, floor, kick panel. Here's a few pics.

I just replaced all that on my blazer. Step by step in this thread.

It's only a few spot welds. The new brace has tabs front and rear. Weld the tabs to the part it touches. I did two each side to the floor brace by the nut. Two each side to kick panel and two to doubler panel on top.

The floor brace goes from the firewall provides support at captive nut then spot welds to the torque/rocker box inner wall.

It's a main support piece. Id take it out and replace with a new one. More then likely the captive nut and underneath is rusted or compromised. If the other brace is still good it's an easy fix.

I've installed quite a few of those cab mounts...but never had to remove them,90% of them were already rotted off,and only a few remnants where the cage nut is was left..that came off quick with a few hammer blows and a chisel..

Glad the front to rear brace was still good. That one is tough to remove and replace.

Make sure to coat everything in your rust preventative paint of choice why it's open.

I did a mix of rust bullet and eastwood internal frame coating. Rust bullet for the rocker box and underside of the floor pan. Then frame coating for everywhere I couldn't reach.

I sprayed and painted that shit everywhere. Then sprayed it again. Then will spray the inside with an oil or wax product yearly.

I don't want to repair it again!
