What would I need to get it to fit? I know new motor mounts but are there factory ones or will I need to make them? I think that might be all I need.

I thought the bellhousing bolts were different from Chev to Olds.

But I actually like the idea. :thumb: 455`s and even 425`s are good motors! :thumb:

why put in something that costs WAY more money to get the same power out of as a chevy?

I could see if you had it sitting in a shed or something... but to go out of the way to put one of those ugly a$$ motors in is beyond me...

bone stock, sure might not be too bad a swap.. but once you try getting any aftermarket support/parts/power, you'll wish it was a 454...

did I mention fugly? :haha:

Not worth it in my opinion. But if your hell bent to do it, and this is a 4x4,ypu will need to do a lot. I'm pretty sure 80 427 was joking. I can assure you, they don't just bolt right in. Motor mounts would need to be fabricated. The bellhousing bolts pattern is different. Even if you got the mating th400 you would still need to swap the tail shift out for a 4x4 one and then find a tcase and adapter to fit a th400.

All that when you could plop a 454 in in a weekend.

I ment the BBCs bolt right in. If you get the acc with your 454 you can have it in a long day. I think any motor besides a chevy in a chevy is a lot of work for nothing.

except some originality points in your own mind... :dunno:

a BBC is what an engine should look like imo.. perfect angles and proportions... only thing better looking would be a hemi...

I used to do build TON's of Olds resto's/rebuilds for a friend on the side... 70 hurst olds, 71 and 72 cutlass convertables.... and even a 72 olds 455 wagon with woodgrain from Cananadanada that Rene may remember from yr's ago that I did a bunch of patch work on...

cool stuff, not my gig tho... certainly easier markets to explore... heck, building Mopars was prolly cheaper/easier... :haha:

A Hemi would require adapters and the headers wouldn't fit. Maybe in a Dodge though. That would be fine. I personally love BBCs. I love everything about them. Trying to get rid of all my SBCs.

I just meant as far as looking like a pure hotrod engine.. not any kind of a transplant... and that's mainly due to the respect of the valve covers...

Every time I read "BBC" i read it as Big Black C*ck... Whats that saying about me. But it makes this statement Hi-Larious!

I personally love BBCs. I love everything about them.

I agreee. EXCEPT, I HATE the big tall chrome valve covers! It ruins the look of a 454. I like look best with with the engine all stock.

Mine has tall M/T valve covers. I really wanted tall gold morosos for my tunnel ram swap.

it's funny.. I love MT valve covers custom painted, was doing that 25 yr's ago... but despise the Edelbrock VC's and air cleaner of the similar finned style..

and never liked the anodized Moroso's back in the day, as they seemed "played" at the time..

but would run them nowadays for that throwback look.. as a matter of fact, I was looking to run the red ones on my K5 at one point a couple yr's ago.....

My buddy had a set of red or pink ones he bought for $5 at the swap meet. He painted them. I was so hurt.

I used to make a killing on MT's like that.. go to the spring swap meet, buy ratty sets for $10 a pair... blast em, paint em cool colors, longboard the fins and sell SB's for $100, BB's for $150 all day long at the fall show... :pimp:
