I have my 75 Blazer with no drivetrain. I.E. Engine, Trans, Transfer case, Driveshafts. Interior completely gutted. No rust issues. Never been lifted no frame cracks at all.
I have made a deal on a 78 Blazer that was a daily driver until the trans blew. This blazer has a new motor, no rust issues, no lift. Basically stock. I pick it up Friday due to the seller moving out of state.

My plan is to remove all parts needed from the 78 to get my 75 on the road.

My question is would you get the 78 running since it basically needs just a trans, or use it as a parts vehicle to get the 75 going and part out the rest of the 78?

I am going to use the 78 to get my 75 going, cause i want the full convertible top just curious what the brotherhood thinks.

Pics wont be available until Friday.

Here are some pics of the 75. Just the tail and interior, but it needs some work. Its finally cooilng down a bit so i can start getting her together.

Especially now that i have a donor. Instead of taking maybe a year to get her together she should be road worthy in a few months.

My plan is to go completely topless. The top will be going bye bye forever:D

what about getting the 78 running, and convert it to the full convert?

That would take more work than it's worth if he already has a '75 that's already full convertible. Wish mine was a full 'vert :(

That would only be worth it if the '75 was a rustbucket.

I agree!! I know it doesnt look like much, but the 75 is clean. It has been sitting thru the summer so it does have alot of dust, but like i said previously its getting cooler and now that i have a donor work must resume.

And the 78 i am actually tossing around ideas of maybe keeping it and building for my son, but we will see what it looks like after i part it.

Anyway have to go to work. Have a good one guy's

I would think long and hard about how exactly you plan on driving/using the rig. Three years ago I was all jacked up about owning a full top off Blazer. I bought a 74 with good running gear but a hashed body. Then I found a 74 with a good body, but a blown engine. I started combining the two. Once I took that top off and put it back on several times, I decided it was a major PITA, especially doing it myself. I also put in all new seals but the front still leaked when it rained hard. After a while, I decided to go for the enclosed cab and bought a pristine 76 to work on. It is pretty much done and I've never taken the back off yet. On the other hand, if you plan on running with the top off a lot, then get the full convertible and just leave it off. However, if you lift it, then getting it in the garage during inclement weather won't be an option.

That presumes you have a garage tall enough that you can get your rig into. If I tried to drive my Blazer in my standard 3 car garage, I'd be full top off alright...:eek1:

75' it!!! Living in a land free of constant rain and salted down roads, full convertable is the way to go. Soon you'll figure out that doing away with that top is an even better choice. Freeing your ride of about 300+pounds of uninsulating,non-sound-deading weight that the K-5 will thank you for. Coming from a 75' owner in SO.CAL.

Building the 75 was always the plan, but i had to get some input from you guy's. I'll make a thread on the build up once i get started.

Thanks Guy's:waytogo:

Finally picked up the 78 Blazer. Here are some pics. I think i got a pretty good deal for $500.00. Parting starts next weekend:D
