Sounds like a good list. I think it will turn out to be a great truck when you get through. Keep up the good work.

nothing much new in build today just some upkeep. fixed the leaky valve cover gaskets and put on 2 k&n breathers.

Might be a stupid question, but what was in place of the little filters before? Is that part of the emissions stuff? Did you take things out and just put filters in its place? Just a general discussion on that would be appreciated.

Thanks.

the filters on the valve covers replace the pcv valve on one side and the pipe that used to go from the valve cover to the air cleaner on the other side. just cleans things up a bit and looks better.

I would put the PVC back on or you'll be blowing out seals I tryed running no PVC and blew out the intake gaskets.

thats why i put the two big k&n breathers there they are open element like the air filters it has worked fine so far.

Mine always blows oil out of that hole in the passenger's side. My air filter housing has a little filter in it that fits in front of the regular filter that catches the oil that comes up the hose. I suppose my valve seals are bad.

you could have leaking valve seals but more and likely you have piston rings that might be starting to blow by causing crankcase pressure. a compression test and leak down test will tell the story on that.

Well got a wild idea on hood modifications.

here is the hood marked to cut.

his cowl vent is part of the hood

So what's the point of this hood modification? Does it hit the windshield when you let the hood up?

no it clears everything just fine. i did it to make room for the high rise intake carb and air cleaner going on.
