75 jimmy. finally getting to build my dream truck.

IMG_20151023_203951604.jpg IMG_20151023_204856586.jpg I'm on call tonight for work, which doesn't allot much time for much of anything but work... But I was able to take 20 min tonight to put in my multi speed fan switch for the blower motor. Basically just a 6 position switch from radio shack, with a chrome knob to kind match the rest of the hardware, got it wired up and tested. Works as it should! May get the ac resistors down the road to gain another speed, but at this point I'm not real sure why, but it's wired up in case I do...

Pretty cool to see the heater box, as mentioned before I don't think I've seen that done before either. In for progress

Thanks! It actually doesn't work to bad. I may redo the ducts to the windshield at some point, but I'm thinking of redoing the dash to do we'll see.

Nothing new on the truck today... Did get shop lights moved around though, got better light in the back. Been here 5 years and never had lights by the door. Hopefully I don't have to spin vehicles around anymore to work on the back of them. That tends to get annoying...IMG_20151024_190051039_HDR.jpg

Took some time to tinker in the Jimmy tonight, working on putting the rear part of the cage in that I planned to do 2 years ago... Oh well, its going in now. Also installed some intermittent wipers on the old girl as well.. Haven't got a chance to use them yet though, guess we'll see this summer! Haha. More pics to follow as I get things done!

Thanks, as much as I'd love to have a crazy cage, I'm just not any good at bending tubing...

Exactly, I like things simple. Kinda trying to decide a way to do an engine cage but not sure how to tie it into the main cage...

Got a few more things done today...

Finally got a license plate light installed, been pulled over for that one a couple times.. HahaIMG_20160306_120851654.jpg

Also got my dome light moved from the topper to the cage, just hate jumping into a dark truck, my under dash lights just don't go back far enough, I'll probably build another box and put on in the back just like the top had. IMG_20160306_120907706.jpg
That's all the fun to report for now..

Ahh haha right on, ya, I went all last summer without dome lights since the top had come off and didn't go back on till it got cold again, but I've been pulled over for plates a few times since I have a problem putting the front one on the actual bumper lol

Great to see anther full vert still on the road. I like a lot of the ideas on this build, keep up the good work!

Thanks, had two half tops years ago, always wanted a full vert, had the chance to buy one, jumped all over it, it's been a long road with this guy, but it's been fun and will Lord willing continue!! I'll do my best to come up with new and creative ideas to keep you guys entertained but no promises :zombie5: lol

So I got this truck a little over a year ago in horrible shape, rusted beyond what most said was worth fixing. Well I did my best at tackling it, its not perfect but for what I wanted it didn't need to be! I love k5s always have and really wanted a full convertible. Well my chance came in early June 2014 when this one poked up for like 1500 bucks, talked him down to 1000 and drove it home. Mind you this truck was bone stock. The firewall, windsheild frame, and trans tunnel were the only sheet metal to not be replaced. Truck ran AMD drove great though for looking like tetanus waiting to happen. It boiled down to wanting something to throw 35s under, always talked about it but never did it. so after selling another truck, I ordered the 35s because it didn't matter what I got, it was getting them. Then decided on a k5, so then wheels were ordered and then I found this truck. Shortly after getting it home I ordered the lift. Waisted no time in putting it on. And then came body panels.... That sucked.... Buddy had a short bed I cut down and threw on, and less rusty doors, and eventually a front clip, rockers and floor pans fit in there somewhere too. Ordered a bumper from kert at diy4x and a cage kit as well. Awesome guy to deal with by the way! Decided to ditch the stock heater and ac stuff since it was in bad shape anyhow.. And yes even the dash, had some metal laying around and made my own! Figured out how to make a light in the console work off a door switch, built my own heater box(still in progress) and controlling dampers for it off push pull cables. Even hooked the fresh air damper in the pass kick panel to a push pull cable! I've done a ton to this truck I'm pretty proud of. Its by no means perfect but it gets the job done. And there nothing else like driving a lifted convertible truck!! Pics will be following soon but that should get everybody caught up. since I'm on a cell phone and mobile stuff doesn't do what computers do, I'll do my best! Enjoy!

Lol it's like deja vu!! Looks good though!!
