75 k5 on 44's....ChrisPerry's build thread

That double sheer steering setup is cool. I have never seen that before, is that common practice? Maybe I would have seen it if I hung out on Pirate more. lol.

Yeah, common practice. It allows you to set the tierod or hydro steering ram at any height between stock and the bottom of the high steer arm. It also spreads the stress out over the entire knuckle.

Most guys do it as well when running high steer to spread the stress load over a greater area of the knuckle to help the knuckles out a little bit more...basically just like Chris said. But I've seen it done like what Chris did while still running the tie rod in the stock location as an added measure for strength.

Chris you able to make BB this year?
What's new with the truck?

Not sure yet. Last few month's have been really hard on the savings.
All the work on the tow rig hurt. Had to run up the credit cards a bit.
My parents just bought a new house in Grants Pass Oregon's and are almost finished with the move. In the next 2 month's, I have to tow a couple cars up for them and it's a 1800 mile round trip.
Nice thing is I'm renting the old house for a year for the same money as an apartment. Two car garage with a 400 square foot shop and a 100ft driveway. :woot:will finally get to get some work done on the projects.

@ChrisPerry

What size wheel do you have on this rig. Diameter, width, backspacing?

I want to try and find a beadlock similar to your set up.

Sorry for the late reply, I keep meaning to measure the back spacing for you. They are 15x14 procomps. I think the bs was 4.5" but not sure. Had to gring the calipers quite a bit to get them to clear.

Thanks for the info. I found a set of Raceline RT-81 Black Rock 8 17x9.5 8x165.1 (8x6.5) for $1072.00 a set of 4. 3.5" of backspacing. Going to go with 40"-42" super swampers.
I like the way yours are sitting on your rig. I saw it at BB17 and thought that would be a good set up for my 87 K5. :waytogo:
