76 Blazer Project thread Updated 6/19/15 Long over due updates

So after having my orginal VSS sensor that was mounted on to the speedo cable fall off from wheeling and not always working I decided to go with a different method.

I took and drilled a hole in my 205 tail shaft housing, It is tapped to 3/4-16
It took a bit of grinding to level the area off and get the sensor to have the correct clearance of .030 to the reluctor ring

This ring came out of a s-10 NP 231 transfer case. It has the exact same splines as the old plastic gear that came off the 205. I suspect there are a lot more of transfer cases that share the ring.

I did have to trim the ring down to 1.17 inch thickness, i used a lath for this but it could be done with a grinder and a file.

I only trimed the ring on one side to achieve the correct position

The speed sensor is out of the same NP 231 and also is used on many other GM transfer cases, your best to find this at a junk yard because they are around $90 at a parts store.

This shows the final position with .030 inch's clearance. to verify that a signal is being produced i hooked my volt meter up to it and set the meter on AC voltage. Just spinning it back and forth i was seeing a peak of about .300 VAC

THats awesome! Such good info there! so is your computer programed to take that number of pulses per mile?

So with the nice weather i have been getting some work done on the truck. I installed headers with 1 3/4" Primary's

Theses are off a F-body and are a tight fit, i had to tweak them a little to clear my shackle.

Its also time for more boost :D

Who makes those headers? Are they meant to be swapped into a square body Chevy or are they meant for another application?

So i have been slowly working on small things over the past few months. I ran into fuel system limitations so i now have some fuel system upgrade parts on order.
I am going to try and get a good amount of work done in the next two weeks so i can take my truck to sliver lake dunes :D

i started to fit a new bumper to the front too, i picked up a waren winch bumper.

I set it in place with a few bolts just to see how it would look, it needs a good amount of work to make it fit correctly.

So today after getting the new fuel system installed (pics will follow soon), i took the truck out for a drive and to work on the tune a bit, after a few flashes i decided to get a base line for performance. The best way i have to achieve this is 0-60 times. I made 2 runs today the 1st run i did not shift at the correct point and pulled a 8 sec 0-60, the next attempt was way better and i got my 0-60 down to 5.93 secs!! I dont think i want this truck to be much faster than that lol
