76 K5 Courtesy Light Wiring Question.

If you pull them out they will not work. They ground on the body when they are screwed in. So unless one of the hot wires are touching the body, that will probably not be where the short is.

Auto Zone had two, but there are two different styles and they didn't have the ones I needed. GM has discontinued them also.

I know you have them ordered but rockauto show several different one. Even an ACdelco one.

I have them pulled out now becase and they are frozen with rust. The fuse keeps blowing when the headlamp switch is pulled, I lose running lights and courtesy light off the same fuse.

I had not messed with any wiring prior to this, and all the wiring looks to be wraped up from the factory, no mickey mouse rats nest in there at all...

So what could overloading that fuse when the lights are turned on?

Just check all the wires and bulbs on your running light may have a short in them. It sounds like it is somewhere after the switch.

I got ALL the interior lights to work with the door switches and with the headlamp switch, the only thing I have not figured out is why the fuse still blows when the headlights are turned on. I am replacing both rear running light connectors tomorrow, they are burned out, but the ground is good on both of them. I remember now why I just bought a Painless Wiring kit for my last k5.....(Painless is still a PAIN IN THE ASS!!!) LOL!
