'76 K5 - the evolution

:doah:haha thanks ashman, we had a blast, and the stuck only lasted a minute before we got a quick tug off the dune peak.
yeah, didn't look bad from what you could see in the video. I never really considered building a sand truck before (not enough of it in Utah), but it looks like a blast. engine sounds sweet too.

I grew up in Southern California so I frequented Glamis so having Silver Lake 3 hrs from us in Michigan helps ease the pain of not getting to ride Glamis any more...

Sand is a lot of fun, I've always loved it - plus, the setup of the truck is somewhat flexible, so trails are no problem, but it's definitely not a mud truck.

Great vids man. I want mine to sound like that so bad. Let me know next time your headin up and ill meet ya up there. Im only 45 min away here in muskegon. :thumb:

Hey thanks Deuling,
Funny thing is I've had that [sort of] exhaust for 14 years, it's 3 chamber flowmasters and a cobbled together mess of 3" bends, and turns down right under the rear seat. I'm happy with it, and I like the 468 a lot more than the oil burner 350 I had before...

I'll definitely let you know when I'm heading up again, probably won't be until next season. How often do you get to go?

I was talkin bout the sound of the engine :D and I got up their once with the truck, it closes Halloween day and I hope to make it up once more, but we shall see. I went a whole bunch with my quad, prolly ten times or so. Best $500 I ever spent.

Friend of mine got pics uploaded from the weekend - this was my favorite...

what rear springs are you running? if they are 63/64's do you have pics of the hangers ?

Yeah they are 63's plus some summit special shackles... I have a couple pics, nothing close up on the hangers. I have a cage tie in from the rear tubes in the bed to the frame, and I hung the shackles off of those (with some gussets...)
