77 k20 budget build. looking for tips

yeah, i am much happier with my shackle angle now. i don't have an angle finder, but going by eye it does not look to be more than 15*, i may see if there is one at work i can bring home to find the angle of it.

i am not sure what joints are in it. but it has a joint at both ends of the shaft, no flange.

shaft is now cut, and welded back together. got it true to .025", which is plenty close considering what i am doing with it, a couple hits on a rock and it will be out worse than that anyway.

it is amazing how easy it was to shorten, i have maybe 45 minutes of work in what a shop would charge me $100 to do. the only things a shoup would do that i didn't is balance it.

and the keg. still have to tap a hole for my fuel line to go into, running it in the top next to the filler cap.

Sweet build! I'd be interested in seeing more shots of your frame joint (where you spliced) b/c I'm in the process of doing the same!

i can maybe get a few more sometime, showing the gusset i made and such.

but my neighbor did the same thing to his truck, but he made a Z cut on his, so i wll try to snap a few shots of what he did as well. he however did not take out nearly as much frame as i did.

but i did finally get it up and running once again. no 4wd as i am having issues with the hubs and u-joints. and the tranny is messed up, as once i started it up, it blew the dipstick right out of the tube.

I appreciate any info you can provide! I'm going to be soon cutting down my C&C wheel base. Glad to hear you got it running... what are the plans with the Tranny? I've swapped all auto's I've had to standard, just a personal preference and easy to do.

i have a SM465 here at the house already and the truck already has a pedal in it, so swapping in a manual would be easy but i am gonna try to mess with the auto first, if i can't get it straightened out then the stick will go in it.
