77 K5 Just had to do it

Yeah, you'd be surprised at how little marks the fan may leave

How are the body mounts?

Ditto on the core support mounts. My 75 did the same thing and there was an easy inch or more clearance between the fan and the shroud. Sounds like it was a good run at least.

So what are all of the cool kids using? Energy Suspension, LMC? Rock Auto list complete body mount kits that are ES.

I don't have much of an answer. I got what I believe are energy suspension ones for my '90, (used) and they are stiff as a board. I think that they are about like @Bent77 design firmness... (hockey pucks)

Yeah I think they were energy suspension. Got them from ORD

A few guys like the rubber replacements from LMC, personally I am a firm polyurethane believer.

Biggest difference is hardware is available with the lmc rubber kit, the poly's don't have hardware.

I don't remember what I've got in mine, but I do know we put a pair in during my swap. Either will work for now as long as they are fresh.

Yea it was a lot of fun. First time I have done any real wheeling in a long time. Being it was just myself and my son we were not able to get many good pics or videos but coming up out of one ravine towards the end of the day and it started raining lightly, a bit of a difficult trail and with my oldest son............ you can't buy memories like that anywhere. Life was good, very good.

That's what it's all about. The trucks are just the vessel to make the memories possible. Looking forward to making some of my own and hanging out with you guys.

I got some ES bushings from ORD installed in the radiator support. I then attempted to kill 3 birds with one stone. My winch bumper was mounted kinda high on the frame rails and as such I felt it needed to be tied into the frame a bit better. Also I did not have any good recovery hooks/rings and because frame flex and old bushings was causing the fan to contact the shroud, I built and installed an additional crossmember/recovery point/winch bumper brace.
EDIT the threaded rod was just for fab mockup and was not part of the finished product.
Sorry pics are mixed up and in kinda reverse order.

Right on dude! A practice run in the camper is pretty smart. That will help you get organized for packing/unpacking. Little tip, make sure you got stuff tied down when packed. I've found stuff gets tossed around easy. I've got a cargo net I need to throw on the bench to tie down our duffel bags. Without it, they end up on the floor anyway.
