Got it. Not quite what I had in mind. I was thinking more of a strap and bolt setup. I think those would be fine with a nylock nut on them.
So it was one year ago today that I started the mechanical part of this build and although I have gotten a lot done it seems like a never ending battle. Except for my A/C lines, under the hood is finished, I built a bracket for my steering stabilizer and got my aux battery wired and installed. I really wanted to do a shakedown/validation run this weekend but that had to get put off until next weekend. Not really a terrible thing as I plan on daily driving it this week to make sure things are good to go.
The more I drive it the better it seems to run and between the power of the big block and the 4500 conversion while adding in the lift, steering, hydroboost brakes, hyd clutch and updated interior ......life is good.

I figured my shocks might be too long so I did the zip tie trick. This is from my house to work.

Yep you need more up...
Or a better bumpstop to limit what up he has to avoid killing the shocks.

If he stuffs the axle, it will still bottom the shock because the shock will travel up faster than the point of the axle that hits the stop

I can guarantee it will travel a lot further on the trail.
Makes sense. I was thinking that using a tall urethane bumpstop ( like on the rear of a 2nd gen S10 Blazer) bolted to the frame directly over the spring plate might limit travel enough. But if the body of the shock is longer it would bottom out before the bump was compressed at all.
Those work pretty good but I've had some trouble with them popping out of the metal cup.
New shoes and new steins. The Dodge shock mounts did not want to play well with the stock upper mounts so off they came and I welded new ones on.
I really did not figure I would be able to feel a differance but there was a noticeable differance from off the shelf shocks.
Highway manners were a bit different with the new tires and power wise I am impressed how hard this thing pulls in 3rd and even 4th gear.
Plans are to go wheeling tomorrow however I still had not tried the four wheel drive so an asphalt pile at work did the trick. 1st gear and 4 low (wow that's low) and it crawled right up.

So where are ya going tomorrow?
There are some trails up by Ward in between Nederland and Estes Park my son goes to we are going to check out. I have been up there once before with this rig when it was all stock.
I really like how the L29 looks in the engine bay. Good luck with the test run! Take pics!
Thanks Rob, after I get my A/C lines installed I will make hopefully the last bracket that will support the wire loom going to the computer and everything will be tied up/together and have a bit more of a finished look. The devil is in the details and I could not have pulled this off without help from you, Larry and all the gang from CK5. You guys set the bar pretty high and I just hope my hunk- o- junk can get the job done.

I would like to invite the gang from CK5 but the truth is except for the general area I have no clue where the actual trail is!
