77 K5 Just had to do it

Without emissions is the way I would order it. Nah, I would send them your ECM and they can use it for the $50 core. Your ECM is set up for emissions and auto trans. I don’t believe you are running either. For what little they charge for their programed ECM I’d get theirs.

Without emissions you can remove the ugly EGR valve and make a block off cover for it like the one below then find a big pipe plug to screw into where the pipe goes from the intake to the exhaust. The Valve next to the EGR looks like an EVAP purge solenoid. You could leave that one in place or make a block off for it too. My intake didn’t have the EVAP purge solenoid but it did have EGR blocked off. Of course, you’ll need to run a different manifold on the driver’s side or plug that hole too.

Mine was a marine L29 intake, was pretty much the same as a truck intake except for the lower intake was cast iron instead of aluminum and upper was powder coated.

Man, that is a Hoss of an alternator! Is it labled with its amp rating? The biggest OEM alternator on the L29's was a 140 amp cs. That one looks like a bigass Leece-Neville 200 amp. Regardless, try to find the serpentine belt number so you can buy an extra to carry with you. Unlikely the belt is the OEM size due to that aftermarket alternator.
Alternator says 179 amp and has a unique external adjustable voltage regulator. While I am all for the massive amp output I also believe in K.I.S.S
If I am in Backwoods City USA I would prefer to have an alternator the parts store has on the shelf, so I will probably switch it out to a 140 amp cs.
I went ahead and ordered the ECM and wiring harness from Howells also, gotta love Black Friday sales.

Yeah, to hell with that. I agree, off it would go. The 140 amp CS I am using is a 2134644 from Napa then you can go back to an OEM belt size. Curious to see the alternator bracket to make sure they didn’t do something funky to it to make that big one fit.

That alternator would be the way to go to me, but I know where to get it checked out or built, if needed. That's big rig stuff there.
So since you are going back to the CS style, I would suggest selling that to someone, not just scrapping it. Maybe you can get a couple of dollars.

Figure out how to mount both and have enough juice to weld on the trail?

Super badass expo camping save-someone-else's-ass rock crawling daily driver.

Install all the parts!

Black Friday?? Ummm yea I kinda had a Black November. I have gotten my L29 engine, wiring harness and ECM from Howells, shock braces from ORD, 241,700r4 and misc goodies from mrk5 for the the 69 shorty and this showed up today.

Dang! Merry Thanksgiving and Happy Christmas to you! The best part of buying your own presents is that you always get what you want
Indeed, the November budget was maxed out. I glad it's December now!:D I still have a pretty long list. I am hoping Summit or Jegs has a sale soon so I can get some Taylor 99607 10mm wires and I still have to buy shocks and tires [I am thinking 315/75R 16 Duratracs] clutch/pp and I am sure there are a few other things I have forgotten about.

Those are great wires! I think on my next tire purchase I'm going to try some Cooper STT Pro's, Toyo Open Country or Yokahama Geolanders. Not sure if all of those come 16" E Range in 315's though. From what I've been hearing many Duratracs are now coming from China! My Power Wagon has USA Duratracs as OEM but my bro-in-law just got some new ones for his GMC and found they were made in China once he got it home from the tire store. My sis-inlaw's GMC has Brazilian Duratracs. I'm fine with any North or South American made tire but not any Chinese suckers especially for the price DuraTrac$ go for.

Thanks I did not know that. Back to the drawing board Smedley!

I haven't been impressed with Toyo Open country tires as far as durability. They perform well in the traction department, but I feel that they wear quickly for the money and get noisey. I have a set of my own, and the company truck has a set.

The owner of the company where I work is a pretty smart guy and is a big fan of the Yokohama Geolanders.

I had geolanders on my 00 z71, 285/xx/16. They are great for the street, can’t comment about Offroad manners but they wore evenly and I got a lot more miles out of them than the Bridgestone dueler at’s they replaced

The cooper STT pro is a great tire. I used to run them on the utility trucks we had in Moab and they got abused and held up great.

So being on injured reserve I have not been able to do any work to the K5 but I have been stock piling parts at least. I am still hoping Summit or Jegs has a sale before Christmas.

Holy dam, I had one drop on me in a snow bank once, so glad it wasn’t on anything hard!
