How difficult is it to get the part so that I can use the 205 from a standard setup with an auto turbo 350 setup??

Did all standard 4 spd setups come with a 205??

This is in a K5 blazer 1978 parts truck. I would like to put it in my 78 k1500 pu.

There were only one or two years (76 and 77 I think?) when a sm465(manual) tranny was mated to a np203 transfer case, and even then it was rare. All the rest were 205. If you have a 4 spd. truck there is probably a 95% chance it will come with an np205. I don't know if you need an adapter to mate a th350 to an np205, but if you do then Advance Adapters will have it /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif.

No not all the rest were 205s buddy. They made tons of SM 465 NP 208 setups, and I'm sure after 87 they used the 241 too.

74 is the only year that came with a 465/203 combo. Unless your truck had a tranny/t-case combo swapped into it from a '74 or from some later 80s truck, then you have a 205. In order to adapt your t-case to a 350 you'll need the adaptor for the th350 and I beleive a different mainshaft as well. The problem is that these are not common, since they were really only used in 1980, when all GM trucks got the 205 regardless of the transmission. You'd realy be better off just going with a 203, they're much easier to find parts to attach it to an auto tranny.

IIRC, Every SM465 had an NP203 in 1974. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

My friend has an NP 205 set up for a TH 350 that he'd sell to ya for $150 plus shipping with adapter, drivesleeve, even crossmember if you want. It's slip yoke from an '80 truck.

If you were closer I would trade yoy my TH350/NP205 for your SM465/NP205.

The '78 4spd NP205 has a 10 spline male input. You will need a TH350 27 spline male input to swap into that NP205. You will also need the adaptor and possibly drive sleeve depending on the adaptor you use. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

ORD has some good NP205 tech. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
