First off I've mentioned your work on the truck... But I'll correct.

My brother and I built some 1/3 doors to keep mom happy

got to use the truck a little this weekend. as much of a toy as it is we use it around the house alot, mainly for moving wood and such. time to play lumberjack

we ended up using the winch to put tension on the trees and some precise notches:whistle: and managed to not hit anything important to include the truck...altho there muddy boot prints all over the hood and roof

we lost on of the trees a few months ago and the other 2 werent lookin to good.

when my brother and i found this axle we noticed that hte longer shaft was missing...no big deal right were at a pick and pull we can just get another one while were there. anyways this particular axle came from a 3500 gmc van making this a longer axle shaft than normal and wouldnt you guess is we couldnt find one anywhere...

so needless to say im gunna be spending some time junkyard crawling to find what i need.

quick question

ive been reading the 14 bolt bible from pirate4x4 and i just want to make sure im reading this right, i have the c&c axle and if i change out the hubs to SRW hubs i can use normal length axle shafts and not the longer c&c hubs right?

I went through the local pick and pull and havent found the proper length for the long side. i just want to make sure before i go and buy anymore hubs

well time to update where to start, i started by installing my 2wd box, this was going good untill i noticed my pressure hose had a pin hole leak. not normally a problem except it was the 4th of july weekend so i had to wait till monday to get a new hose, managed to find a power steering cooler from a dodge that fit in nicely

decided that the original front bumper was a bit to much, and i bent it up a little. so i cut it up and made it work, once i get a tubing bender ill ad some tubing

while i was working on cutting up the bumper I keep hitting my head on the fangs...so i cut them off to

bfd6c454.jpg

then i decided to go wheelin a little bit and banged up the passenger side pritty good

took of the doors off and buttoned up the front bumper, and finished the steering and went out for a ride this after noon. ive noticed that i never have someone around taking pix when im wheeling just when i get home

next step is the boatside, and dovetailing the bed.

Do you bolt and unbolt the hinges on those doors every time you take em off?

That seems like a pain.

yes i do unbolt them every time, but they usually stay off for a while so its not like im doing it every day, and the half doors that are on all summer weigh like 15 pounds...so its not really hard to shoulder them up either.

i keep calling them half doors...their more like 1/3 doors

I did the hinge mod so I just unpin my doors to take them off.

Problem is, I never take em off.

The problem is that my drivers door never lined up right, and after the last runin with the tree the passenger door won't open easily. Might be doorless for a bit

small update

well it has started to snow here in NEPA. as such i had to put the full doors back on and get the truck as winter ready of i can. also found a smoking deal on a dana 60. im going to call after work today. looks like ill be eating ramen noodles for a bit but its worth it. update and pix once i hopefully pick up the axle

yay parts!!!

so ive been hunting for a long side axle shaft for the 14bolt axle i got a couple months ago. after some searching i found one on ebay, from stricker_auto.

got the package today after waiting all of 3 days for it shipping was awesome. its the right part and the price was right. so this project is back online.

next project on the list is going to be the disk conversion, pix sometime soon on the axle.

on a side note deer season is in full swing and we were out today. took the chevy out mainly to prove that it does infact leave the driveway.

Im Back

Whats CK5. Im back. I just spent some time playing in the sand box.

I got a lot of parts sitting in the garage to get the truck up and running. some of the big stuff includes a disc brake conversion for the 14 bolt, 4.10s for the front, a new winch rope with fair-lead and this biggie

Monster in a box trans rebuild kit, external cooler and auto meter trans temp gauge.

This is the short list there's a bunch of little things that. i missed but i will be working on the truck for the next few weeks in my free time.

In other news Im going to pick up a new daily/tow truck. I found a 2002 Chevy 2500 HD that a fell in love with. I wont drive it much in the summer because of my little acura but in the winter it will get on alot better. as i know you guys will ask pics as soon as I get a chance.
