FYI you can drill out the valve stem holes and run regular "pull through" short valve stems if you want to.. Not sure of the ups and downs but I think it might be a plus, as they would flex instead of break off in the event of rubbing on something.. idk. plus if one ever does break off on the trail, you'd be hard pressed to find a replacement locally. My fancy stems are so low profile that I'm not too worried about anything ever snagging on them.

With that being said, If you're hell bent on running H1 Stems, I have a set of the H1 valve stems you can probably have for spares if you buy me some drinks one of these Thursday nights.

Give it a little thought! those h1 stems really stick out quite a bit and there isn't a whole lot of meat left where it goes thru the rim, and they can be finicky with seals and such.. The only reason they are the way they are is so CTIS lines can be plumbed into them on thusly equipped HMMWVs. they're not better or anything- just more of a PITA all around.

That's what I would do anyway. Not like you're gonna chip your paint or anything right now ;)

WELL SH!T, now you tell me :haha:

I already ordered new o-rings for the stock ones so I'll see what happens for now.

What was that like 10 bucks? Before CTIS, the 8 stud h1 rims had rubber valve stems and never had a problem.. :)

Nope, more than that. They're SPECIAL. Do people really have problems with these??? I would think the bolts would protect it.

I don't think anybody has problems with them. I just don't like them because they're what those rims always have on them and I have to be different.

I bet 'thatk30guy' would probably have first hand experience and more of a valid opinion if you wanted one- sounds like he's been inside and out of military vehicles many times. I'd imagine you could ask in the "school me on HMMWV rims" thread if no one chimes in here..

I painted them white. Mike suggested I try some 88-00 dually front center caps for it, so that's what im going to try. They should be about perfect since they're so shallow.

I think you should try one before buying a set. They may be to big to fit in the inner steel ring. Guess at that point you could cut em down tho. I miss my caps and rings. 84 is getting em before next trip

Nothing too exciting here, yet. Got the center caps in the mail and just as Nick said, they were just a little too big to fit inside the center hub area. So Mike took them to do a little work to see if he could get them trimmed down to fit inside the hub area. Still need to get some threaded lug nuts and lug nut caps.

Few pics of what they look like scotch taped on to the hub center.

It's going to look pretty good I think.
