78 K10 Desert Wreck, watch as it grows.

Havent been around much, wifey was working on something special, and needed my help more than usual, so the truck went to the wayside.

My Lil 4wheeler, Makaela Alisabeth Stewart born 14APR13 our first, and 4 years trying, feeling very blessed with her.

I did order the DIY4X shackle flip and 6" shackles on friday, so that'll be here soon, and i'll get cranking on that again.

Got the DIY4X shackle flip, opted for the 6" shackles.

Also got some of the spacer washers for the front spring shackles, as when I did the spring swap, the springs are wider than DIY's rear shackle mount by a bunch. Not allowing me to tighten, and have the shackle be straight. These thick washers will do the trick!!

Not right not tight, the shackle hanger just isn't wide enough on the inside of the frame maybe you can see it here. If I were to tighten it, the shackles would not be straight if I tightened,(smaller on the top) and would be rubbing on the frame,

THey would probably be fine without welding, but if its an option for you, i would imagine it would be better welded.

I don't think it would be structurally, any stronger, but easier on future reassembly.

I spose welding it COULD take away a possible wear point between the spacers, but I doubt it would make much difference

I could be wrong but are those the right bushings for your springs? the shoulders look alot wider than mine?

This is what the experts said I needed. I never did it before so I went with what I read, what they said.

The gist is the front springs are wider than the rear springs swapped so they don't fit up on the front spring mount. This is the reason for the wider bushings, plus if it had narrower bushings at the rear of the spring, the same frame rubbing problem would be had.

I'm running the ORD upper shackle hanger bushings and the springs eye bushjngs are Energy Suspension, the ORD upper bushings have a real wide shoulder which made me add a diy4x spacer to the spring not the hanger. Did you also replace the upper shackle bushing?

Oh and congrats on the little one!

I jacked the rear up to start the rear lift, it's up around 8", and it's still not level with the front, on top of that, with the 37"s planned i'll go up another 3 inches,( from the 31's that are on it now.

Yanked out the axle tonight after work, gettin ready to put in the DIY4X shackle flip.

All that after a trip north to Phoenix, then over to show low, for Friday and Saturday. Hope to get cranking again Sunday, but a friend is scrapping a 83 Chevy 2wd diesel truck, and I'm gonna go yoink the steering box for my crossover, bench seat and possibly the tilt wheel.

So it's gonna be a busy weekend fer sure

This is what I did tonight, after Work and after checkin out some potential new houses, removed with the help of my trusty air hammer.

The BEST way to remove these rivets. But ya gotta have a good one, with a GOOD chisel. When I say good my particular experience is matco, Snapon are the top. Period.

Did you chisle the heads off and then hammer them through?

Exactly have two bits, a chisel tip, and a pointed one. Blast all the heads off with chisel, then pop them out with pointed one.

Took all of 30 min, to remove shackle hangers, including setup and putting tools back.
