Check what the front axle looks likes, perfectly round differential, 10 bolt, otherwise D44

Check the glovebox sticker for gears

78 was the last year for the dana 44 up front. the most common gear is a 4:10.

i had a 78 blazer that had a 10 bolt. from what i have found it can be either 10b or d44 for 78 and 79. in a 3/4 ton i would guess 4.10

If the front axle was Full time 4wd, then it would have full time lockouts. And the 203 tcase would of been fulltime. The full time lockouts look like this:

78 was the last year for the dana 44 up front. the most common gear is a 4:10.

A Dana 44 was available up until the very early eighty's - although most came with a 10 bolt front since 1977 .
