I dub the..."Mater"! As in "Tow Mater" from the movie CARS. Yes I know its not a tow truck, but the paint scheme resembles the character's. pronounced (May-durr). Thought I'd share some progress:

Step 1 was to pull the existing sm465/205 and begin cage work while waiting on a doubler.
Started cage work done by Drake Walsh at Tangent Design Offroad here in Johnson City, TN.
I wanted to go ahead and do a full cage since I'll be haulin a centered rear seat for my kiddo.

We left enough room to be able to do a dove tail rear end.

I done a little trading and ended up with some 42" IROKs on recentered Hummer beadlocks with stamped centers and Drake added rockrings....

Sweet ride man, looking good. Good idea on the cage to make room for dovetail. Im diggin the "Throne" for your boy, I need something like that for my boy.

I'm diggin the cage design and the transfer case supports that's looks to be set up well I'll have to try something simmilar

awesome looks great. I was excited because I have a similer setup. LT1 th400 and 203 205 in the works I was excited to see your cross member mine is simeler but I could not figure how to cover the tranny pan but now I see. looks good I bet you cant wait to wheel it. _RYan

wow , very nice. Now if you go with coil over setup, it would be the perfect truck. But looks great now.

looks sweet, im swapping in a th400/203/205 setup as well into my k5. i love the cable shifters, i might have to look into them now

Done a shakedown run this weekend. Gotta trim somemore off the fenders or add more bumpstop. The carb is insane...poor man's fuel injection It ran without sputter on some good angles - works for me. It did however cut out when bouncing on angles.

I bought this truck. Had it picked up while I was overseas. (I'm still over seas).

I have a Metric crap ton of pics of the chassis, But it sat just like pictured above, until I went home on leave. It was tieing up my trailer so I through my axels that I had and some tires on it to get it off the trailer.

Long story short, I am back over seas until mid august or so. I have most of the drive train lined out that I want to use, (except my motor, still looking). I just thought I would let you know that this truck is not dead!

:waytogo:

Tell us what the plan is

plans... hmmmm well as of TODAY, My d60/70 combo has 4.56 gears, and of course running my 44x18 boggers, with TWF inserts in the double bead locks. I have ordered my baja SS seats already, and have my SM465 that will be mate to my doubler (241 to 205, or 203, to 205 I can't decide). I will be ordering that on the 15th. I am really wanting to get an 8.1 for it, so much so that I gave away my 454 to a budy to force myself into buying one. I have my ruff stuff disk brake swap for the rear already. I still have alot of things to iron out, and would either like to have this thread moved, or I will start my own build thread when I get home.
Of course like any other build, my plans change almost daily, so who knows. I do think once I get the drive train in it, and most of the weight on the axels, that I will be lowering it at least 2 inches.

Thats cool... a new thread would be good, but if you could keep some of the back story that would be better. I think.:dunno:

I have found a mor complete build thread of the old rig on a different site, so I will start my own build thread and link to that for the people that want the back story.
If anyone has any input on finding an 8.1l I am all ears.

8.1 is out because I haven't been able to find one locally. Or affordably. So, 454 it is, again!
