Well I thought I would start my build thread. Started with a $400 running forest service blazer. 350/sm465/205. Sorry I didn't take any pictures of the lifting or the installation of the one ton axles. Also the cross over steering and the 64" springs. It works great in the rocks! Next is the boat siding and cage.

I removed about 7 1/2 inches from the rockers and I am just starting to install the boat sides. Its not as extreme as some but I want to be able to chop the bottom of the doors and retain the windows and be mostly water proof.

I am using stock H1 wheels and tires. The front end is out of a dually and the rear is a 70" wide 14 bolt with 2" spacers. So far I have done most of the Rubicon with no problems. The flex with the 64" springs is great. Measured wheel travel is about 24+"!!! (that is articulated). I don't have a picture of that yet.

I can't find any good pictures of our Rubicon trip with my Blazer, but as you can see we got about 4" of snow overnight. This is later on the second day. Things are melting fast.

looks good...no offence but technically thats not boatsides...there is alot more cutting involved with the floorboard...ask me how i know my truck is right in the middle of it

I am into the floor about 4", and I have cut almost 8" off the rockers. I know it is not as far as some, but I think it will make a difference. Also, I need to keep the lower hinge to hang doors on. I have small kids and need to be able to heat the truck.

thanks guys. I am going to see if I can get one side done today.

I chopped the door. I think it looks like the off road design sides. (except the dents and ugly paint)

We had a great time. The only thing that broke was my right front hub springs. A few washers in the hub got me out without any problem. Does anyone know how to seal the Terra hubs? They are new and fit loose. I have about 200 mi on them and grease is all over my wheels. The O ring is in good shape it is just too small.

i have done a similar thing with the rockers on my rig. i did it first, with supersize75k5's help, to the '83 body i had previously. it is not in any way shape or form even "semi-weather proof". I would come out in the morning and hop in my truck and there would be a huge puddle on the floor. rain water runs down the door, hits the rocker tube and runs into the cab. additionally, you can't do quick release hinge pins cutting up quite that high (ofcourse that doesn't help you now... )

so i did it a bit differently on my '73 body when i did the body swap. i built the following to aid in the weather proofing, plus make it street legal to run without doors in states where doors are required (i.e. washington).

You cant see in the pictures, but I have a piece of angle on the inside of the tube. It sticks up about 3/4" so I will be able to install the original weather striping. If water runs down inside the door (fairly uncommon in Nevada) it will land on the tubing and run outside. I was trying to make more clearance but still make it somewhat easy to get in and out of.

Why do you say I can't do quick reliease hinges? I don't understand.

for whatever reason (i haven't done it yet) the bottom hinge pin has to be put in from the bottom if you're going to do the quick release hinge pins.

nice work w/ respect to the 3/4" angle iron. i'd thought about doing that, but decided the little wall was the way to go for me. mine doesn't make it difficult to get in and out... but the cage sure does! :D
