'79 C10 - Bringing it back for a third generation

I think the plan is to pull the TPI motor I have in a K5 that's been sitting in the garage for the last 8 years and put it in the truck. We pulled the rear step bumper off last night, been wanting to do that for a long time.

TPI would make a great driver engine. All the rest of the drivetrain in decent shape?

Nicely done, a truck with so much history must have an awesome feeling upon resurrection.
What are your plans for the truck besides engine swap. How is it for everything else?

I've had a bumper sitting in the yard for over a year to replace my step bumper too.

Nice that the truck is making a come back for a new generation.

My son and I were down at my parents house a few weeks ago working on the engine swap on my dads GTO, I mentioned that we wanted to swap the rear bumper on the truck. A little later my dad leaves the garage and comes back carrying a rear bumper, he had one sitting in a shed. Now I need to figure out what bumper brackets we need,

Plans for the truck - steel cowl hood
Ring Brothers hood hinges
swap motor
swap fuel tank- either just a fuel injection version or maybe relocate
have the trans rebuilt or possibly put the th400 that's rebuilt sitting in my dads shed
new tires
exhaust with cats so it will pass emission's
pass emissions and license it
swap rear bumper

Just the essentials for now so my son can start driving it. I want to look into a hide a hitch so it has a trailer hitch but hidden. Later we will need to address the cab rust, paint and body and interior. Dream build would be to lower it and do some serious mods so we can take it to the dragstrip.

Cool back story!
I have so many memories with that truck. I got a puppy given to me when I was 9, I had him till he was 14. We both grew up in that truck. It was the main family vehicle so my mom, dad and sister would ride up front and the dog and I would ride in the back. When it got too cold or it was bad weather the dog and I would crawl under the tool box.

Those were the days!

I remember growing up we rode in the back of a pickup all the time, especially on the farm.

I have a set of 73-80 sport bumper brackets, stone shields and the license plate box if you wanted to run the correct 73-80 bumper. The one you have is a 81-87 style bumper.
