'79 K10 Step Side Rusty Rex

There's so much happening in the cab of that truck. Lol

Glad it all paid off!
Yeah, it’s a sticker and license plate bomb in there. Fun to drive though. I have a few more things to install and then I’ll start earning my hp tuners wings. My pcm is from psi wiring and came with a base tune for my truck and seems to run well. But, I will see. I’ve only played with the speedometer calibration portion.

Harbor freight was out of transmission jacks. Summit racing had them in stock and 20$ less than HF shipped. So I grabbed the off road floor jack from HF which seems awesome. And ordered a transmission floor jack from summit.

I've been wanting to get one of those, Ill be following to see how it works

I have one of those offroad jacks, its not bad but i wish one end of it had swivel wheels, its a pain sometimes to adjust sideways.

My truck got ORD Fushed today. And vented. In true barret Jackson fashion I precision measured and cut my holes in the hood. And used leftover GM license plate rivets from my old job. And, my HF air riveter. For the Louvers

Im sure the louvers are another 50HP. Easy.

After some financial recovery, I will have my eye on the new ORD 52” front spring and shock setup. But for now the old 47” BDS 4” lift springs it is. Or maybe even just some ORD 47” front springs.

The HF floor jack is smooth. And the aluminum frame is nice. Time will tell.

I did get hit in the head by a FUSH bracket that was hanging by a bolt and I turned to grab a washer and nut, and it fell off and cracked the top of my skull which began to leak immediately. That was cool. Still worth it.

On to the pics.

I have never thought about louvers AND cowl induction scoop on the same hood.
I honestly wonder how the airflow will go and possibly change with vehicle speed.

I am not being judgemental, just thinking.

Now I do find it entertaining how the old engine could have actually used the scoop to breathe in some cooler air at speed, but evolution has played a hand!

I don’t think they do much except at low speed in the summer honestly. But I’ve had the louvers kicking around for about two years. And figured just throw them on. Didn’t have an issue I’m trying to fix or anything.

I didn't remember anything about any issues with heat, but I could have forgotten anyway.
Still makes me wonder, just out of curiosity. :waytogo:

I’m not offended. I actually appreciate the thoughts and traffic in my thread.

I’ll tell you what I’m gonna do. This 4th of July, I’m gonna hit up a fireworks stand when I’m out ripping gears in the NV4500 and buy a whole pack of smoke bombs. Light them all off under the hood and hit the highway. Record the smoke patterns from the louvered cowl hood and post up the video. And then we will know how bad I did or didn’t screw up.

It’s science.

That is such an awesome idea and reply!!
I seriously doubt that you screwed up, but WTH do I know!

Ooo! Oooo! Gotta have some speed reference in the video!
:D

Replacement fuel tank should be here today. I ordered another 6an fuel line kit. My understanding is these “corvette” fuel filters are supposed to be close to the tank. How they were in a corvette. I was lazy during my LS swap and left the filter in the same spot on my frame and shortened my return line. It was pretty far away from the sender.

If I leave my truck for more than a few days it will take a few key cycles to pressurize. I know this is either drain back. Or a leaking injector. I’m just gonna put the filter super close to the tank and the check valve right after the filter. And if it still slow starts it’s an injector. I used old injectors that were in an intake I was given. It was off of a 6.0l. But hopefully it’s not an injector.

I could have used a 6an to 6an adapter and not ran all new line. But yeah, no. I want the least connections and possible leak areas.

My toolbox fits in the carport rafters cherry. That was cool.

I’ll update when this fixes it and the new tank is leak free.

Glad I’m working on this outside with all this gas leaking. And I get to listen to all the California quail that live here now. I know some mofo like 30 years ago wanted to move here from cali. But also loved quail, so they trapped some and brought them with. Just can’t leave well enough alone.

Switched to black prp harnesses. Have a cover/armrest in the works for that amp as well. Probably remove a few stickers I’m tired of. And this thing will have to be painted. Think I’ll do a two tone with camo paint. Dark brown with a tan stripe, maybe.

Rear fenders will need to trim as well. The 40’s rub. No big deal though. I’ll just trim enough from the ends. And try and leave the fender braces in there.

Stopped by a buddies shop and did a small flex test. Had to cut the rear fenders. They rubbed a lot. Now, no rubbing. The thick layer of bondo on the drivers side is just bonus dust when cutting.

Tried out the multiple low ranges. It’s really low.

I have a wide band o2 here that’s supposed to jive with HP tuners. After I install that I’ll do more real data log drives and adjustments. It’s ok now. But cold start the first try doesn’t always go.

My rear bump stops are golden. The fronts are close but may need to be longer or a plate at the bottom.

Impressive, the step side box isn't all twisted when the rear articulates. Mine would twist the frame as much as the suspension when it hit the rear overload springs. I took them out (no overloads now) and the suspension does most of the work, not the frame now.
