'79 K5 Build for the PNW...(Pic Heavy)

It's gonna sit right about the same as a 4-5" lifted K5 with 38s...

I'd like to get it a little lower, maybe 1-1 1/2" lower...

But, I'll see how this works out and make changes later if I need to...

It's does look crazy short with 14" off the back...:D

I'm also toying with the idea of cutting a total of 2 1/2" off the 14b, grinding down the ring gear and plating it...

looks real good.crazy amount of cage and body mods...i wish i could afford all those goodies.haha.subscribed

I love the attention paid to the cage in the back making it match the original bosy lines of the truck. It is obvious even with no body panels tah it is a chevy. Great work!

Thanks for the compliments guys...

Did a lot more grinding... No pics, it's just grinding...:D

And started building the diff cover...

Thanks...

The brake bracket is from DIY... I thought about building them myself, but the price was hard to beat...

I built the rear shackles before I ordered the brake brackets, otherwise I probably would have bought them to...

I built mine after seeing a picture of his...;)

OK...

I'm gonna start building the front diff cover... I got these two pieces from a good friend of mine Shane...(leadfoot067)

Not sure if I'm gonna build it the way it's shown on diy or if I'll just use it to build a custom cover...

So, I pulled off the 60 cover to come up with some ideas...

If I just throw some sides on it, then I need to make sure it's going to seal...

Not to big of a deal...

But, I'm not sure I like the big flat thing sticking out front to hang up on stuff...

Since I'm running full hydro above the springs and behind the axle, I'm thinking of cutting the plate and making it more of a stock cover shape...

OK...

I've been thinking about this...

Actually I woke up at 4am thinking about it and took forever to get back to sleep...

Here' my thoughts...

What if I cut the bolt ring in the middle horizontally???

I use the bottom half of the ring and the plate to build a lower half guard...

Then, I use the top half of the ring to build off of as a support that ties into my double ended ram mount...

Since my ram will be behind and above the axle, I'm thinking of bending some thing that is similar to the way most guys mount on the front...

I can built some flat stock mounting plates that come off the front of the diff and tie into the axle truss type piece with tube clamp mounts...

Well, after camping in Oregon and the Naches trip this last weekend, I'm back in the garage... I've spent the last week in the woods...:D

Put in some gussets and handles to keep everyone's fingers in the rig...

Also cleaned the garage up a bit...

Then bolted in the rear...

OK, I started working on the front diff cover...

Gonna mount the single ended ram on it and run a huge tie rod above the springs and behind the axle...

If I don't like ti I'll build a mount and two small tie rods to run the double ended ram...

that cover makes that 60 look even bigger,if thats posible.you can bash that off the rocks all day without problems.awesome.cant wait to see it on the trail.

It weighs a ton...:eek1:

I got the knuckles back together, added another gusset to the ram mount and sprayed primer both covers...
