79 K5 H-Bomb build

Picked up the 700r4 and scored a nice jack. The transmission guy upgraded his equipment and this was his “old one”. I happily took it off his hands to free up his shop space. :)

You're gonna need a lot of crib blocks to get your truck up high enough to use that thing!

spring is here, you have some work to get done. Send the wife and kids out of town on a vacation :rotfl:

For sure man. Lots of little things to tidy up but very doable in a short amount of time. My local buddies are up to slam out a couple good work days too.

I’m going to use this weekend to get the “property” duties done so when the doubler gets here I can go full steam ahead on the blazer. I’ve spent too much time dragging this build out.

once you have the cases you have all the major parts right? Guess you'll still need shafts though....

Yup, got most of the little things too (I think). The auto parts store is close too. My plan is to get the cases mounted first thing so that I can measure for drivelines immediately. Just got to choose my vendor for that. It’ll be 1410s at the diffs and 1350 flanges at cases.

you think you can get away with a 1350 at the case in front? Are you not planning on running a CV?

Any good droop on the front will break the cv ball on a 1350 cv. I prefer 1350 tom woods joints in my front shaft in a two joint shaft. I run 1350 cv rear as well with 1350 at the rear diff too. 1410 just seems to cost more imo.

What do you plan on doing with the truck to necessitate 1410 and a cv front?

I do awesome stuff mainly. :). The yokes needed to be replaced and did so when the ARBs and gears were installed. Kinda the scenario “I’m already spending a metric shit ton so why not just go the whole way”. I’m hoping I’ve made the correct choices but things can be swapped out if I have not.

1350 has a smaller cross measurement and I get my yokes chewed up on the rocks as is. I can't imagine another inch in diameter in being beat up on the rocks.

Nothing wrong with it. Ain't no kill like overkill.

I hope to use it like a propeller to get off the rocks. :)

I’ve kinda overkilled everything at this point.

After talking with Jesse (HAD) he talked me into a 1410 CV setup for a front shaft. I was sitting at 23 degree angles at ride height IIRC.

Yeah I probably should have waited until the x-fer cases were mounted before buying the flanges. Hopefully it will work out ok.

High pinion the front axle. No cv needed.

Thank me later

Based on your lift, axle and trans/case length I’d be surprised if you can run a 1350.
