So the snap ring grooves in my U Joints are too wide for my axles?‍♂️ I bought these damn things a year ago so I doubt I can return them. As far as I can tell from East Coast Gear supply’s web sight they are correct.

After messing around for a while I figured out that the ears on my inner axles were bent slightly. I think I could straighten them but I am going to just order 4130 inners. When installing the joint in my new outers I had to compress the caps more than I wanted, but once I had the snap rings in & released the pressure they moved freely, so they are GTG.

So somewhere way back in this build thread someone told me that my front driveshaft would probably get up into my stock exhaust down pipe. I was hoping it would not. It did. I took some scrap & reworked it for a little more driveshaft clearance. Also got a Walker super quiet Stainless muffler. 3” in & out. Same muffler I had on my 79 Bronco.

I like them alright. I don’t get too rowdy speed wise though. With my limited lift height I get into them quite a bit. I’d like to try some of the taller progressive closed cell foam bumpstops but these are doing fine. On the bigger hits it feels like they are too soft for the weight of my truck. May be if Daystar has a good deal on some of there cans with the closed cell foam inserts at EJS this year I’ll pick some up.

Decided 4340 outers with stock inners was dumb. ORD supplied me new inners to match my outers. Front end is baller now, except for the Spartan. Until it breaks I’m running it!

Back on the road. Made my traction bar crossmember a bolt in affair. Pulled the transfer case & re sealed between the transfer case & tranny. Topped off all fluids, greased driveline. Trying to get all of the boring stuff out of the way before FSI. Really want to tie into bumpers & sliders but I’m not there quite yet. Going to seal up the cab a little better & add some insulation.

Replaced the rear output bearing in the T-case. Still have a driveline vibration between 60-70. Took my driveshaft to the local driveshaft store to check the balance on it. They wanted to tear it down & charge me $600. All I wanted them to do was spin it. Anyway, nearly mechanically ready for Moab, just little things now.

How's your driveline angles? Mine used to vibrate like that at a specific speed cuz my angles were off.

Broke it. Twisted the tube in the housing. Not cool. I should have beefed it up but I never anticipated problem. I was tugging on a stump.
