 A question , do 8 lug dana 44 front axles exist or can you buy these things(disks, maybe other parts?) and where too get those parts(I live in The Netherlands and parts here are difficult too get here)? they have too fitt 15 inch rims without grinding the brake caliper:bow:

thanks.

8 lug dana 44 front axles and 8 lug 10 bolt front axles both exist. They are found in 3/4 ton K-series trucks.

They will fit with 15" wheels just fine.

Yes there are 8 lug D44s. They are fairly common Also GM 10 bolts come in 8 lug. Easy to find.
There are usually lots of them and parts for them on Ebay. Some sellers may ship internationaly.
Or
Do an internet search for the axles for sale. Usually something will come up at an american salvage yard that will ship overseas.

There are a couple of 8 lug D44s/10 bolts for sale in the Classifieds suspention/Axle for sale forum on this site.

To make 15" rims fit an 8-lug Dana 44 without grinding you would need something in the area of 2.5-3" backspacing on the rims.

8-lug Dana 44's were OEM on 3/4 ton GM trucks up to about '78 when they switched over to 10-bolts. If you have an 6-lug Dana 44 you can convert it over to 8-lug using the 10-bolt parts also.

At first I was going to tell you to search since this topic has been beaten to death, but since you are from another country I decided you needed to be cut some slack.

It is also possible to convert your 6 lug to 8 lug. Requires all the parts that bolt up to the knuckle & out, including the backing plate. It can be done w/o bleeding the brakes as the calipers are the same, as they can be pulled off w/o opening the lines.

Okay guys so that means that the front axle of a 3/4 tons suburban will fitt and i can use my original brakecalipers from the dana 44, bearings ,spindels, are the same ? i already have an 14 bold ff in the rear ready too build under the car(75 k5 4x4) and want the same amount of lugs on the frontaxle( i already have rebuilt that)
thanks.

Search on here about the spindles and bearings, might be a year split discussion about interchangability.

I know the 8 lug components I have have a different spindle to accomodate the larger inner wheel bearing, and I also believe that the rotor is of greater diameter than the 6 lugger. The backing plate for the mounting of the caliper is not the same.

If you have a complete 8 lug axle, by all means use it as a complete assembly as you will aready have all of the matching parts.
