8\" of lift with stock rear springs

What are my options on getting 8" of lift in the rear with my stock springs. I will do a shackle flip, this will give me 4".

I want to move the axle backwards about an 1.5". So I was thinking about using zerorates, but how could I get the other three inches? Should I use a longer shackle? How much longer can I go? I am going to reweld my perches so pinion angle is not a concern.

Or should I use 4" blocks and drill my spring perches? Or longer shackles and shorter blocks? Or anything else that I have not thought of.

What tires are you planning on fitting? You could probably get away with alot less if you trim. Unless you're going with like 44's or something.

40's. I will trim if I need to but nothing to major. I have a 2" body lift too. Would 7" be better than 8"?

I'm just the kind of guy that would trim the heck out of my fenders b4 spending more money on making my rig tippier. I guess you gain some ground clearance under the frame.

www.truckinsuspension.com makes a hanger lift kit that uses stock springs, I think. 6" and 9" I think. Expensive though, lot cheaper to just buy new springs and all.

the zero rates, moving the axle back 1 1/2" will really only move your axle bake about a 1/2", I just did a flip and moved my axle back 1", it looks to be in stock location with the flip, I think because when you do the flip it swivel the axle closer to the front?? blocks are ano no, I've broken too many springs with blocks, I asume you do plan to run bigger tires with lower gears, 8" and all, so if you have blocks get use to snaping springs, just do the zero rate and fab a little longer shackle, also plan to run a cv joint, if you want it right

How about a echobit flip with a zero rates. That will net you arond 7 inches.. Get6" front springs with zero rates also, then with your 2 inch body you'll have 9 inches of lift. With a little trimming you can fit 40's.

<font color="green"> Blocks AND zero rates? That's akin to stacked blocks, I really don't think that it would be too safe. I really don't see an ideal way to get that much lift with stock springs. You could do an add-a leaf for a couple inches plus a shackle flip with a longer shackle to get about 7", but it's really a pretty half-ass way to do it. </font>

8" of lift to fit 40s? is this a jeep we're talking about??! gods gift to the fullsize chevy is the ability to run huge meats with a small lift... take advantage!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

what about 7" of lift with 6" springs and zerorates in the front. A shackle flip and zerorates in the rear, with 4" longer shackles? Is that too long of a shackle?

with the money you are going to spend on flip's, zero rates, and shipping, add a little more and get 8" spring's.
then you don't have to worry about it.

are you talking about 8" springs for the rear? If so, I was trying to stay away from springs in the rear, so it would still be somewhat of a soft ride and fairly flexy too. I also think that I might go to f150 springs in the rear sometime in the future.

Getting up to 8" on stock springs can be done. I've had people run my flip to get between 5.5" - 6" and a tapered 2" offset zero rate to correct driveline geometry as well as retun the wheelbase back to stock from the flip. This nets 8", give or take about 1/2" depending on the specific components on your application. With stock springs, the 2" will promote a bit of wrap, on 57's it would promote a lot of wrap. If your planning on running 57's in the future anyhow, youre probably already thinking about adding some antiwrap control which would eliminate the downfall of the 2" zero rate and allow you to keep the stock springs or run 57's.

have you SEEN an 8 inch lift spring for a chevy? holy hell! there is no way you are going to get a spring with that much arch and that few leaves to ride nice. my brother has 8 inch springs on his truck and those things are shaped liek my friggin u-bolts. go with a 4" flip and 2 or 4 inch springs, depending on what you do in the front.

you can run a shackle flip and 4" blocks. Some blocks have offset built into them. I"m currently running that exact same setup, except with 56" springs turned backwards.
