I bought 8" front and rear springs from a guy off craigslist. I am putting them on my 87 K-5. What else will I need?

Longer shocks, brakelines, crossover steering would be the best, longer drive shafts with some type of modification on the front. 6" is bout the max when use stock front shaft. Probly other things, but can't think right now.

Some can get away with the front shaft length, you wont know till you get there. if you have a rear slip yoke that might make it too but im not totally sure, i never owned a blazer.
Make sure the spring bushings are good. For brake hoses g-van hoses will do with that much lift(if you wana save money)...i had them and then changed to russel baraided lines(better way). The steering will be a must, the stock draglink will be way too steep. I had the drop pitman and a raised steering arm(cheaper). Crossover is way better, if you have money for it. Shocks, a set of cheap skyjackers will get you thru..but better would be bilsteins etc.

The better way will always be more expensive, depends on your budget but better in the long run. What axles are you using..?..depending on the springs they might ride rough, i had superlifts and they were a little stiff. There are alot of mods to do here and alot of good guys to help.

bigger axles, bigger tires, lower gears...

this

and to the op, if it were only that easy as just springs..
steering is a BIG issue you are gunna have to tackle
all this from here on in will hurt your wallet since you got those springs fyi

the big question is, and everything else kinda revolves around this, is, WHAT SIZE TIRE YA PLAN ON RUNNIN

8" lift on blazer def = custom driveshafts. c/v rear is basicly a must for smooth road use.

do NOT drop the tcase its not gona help any.

do crossover steering now and be done with it.

shocks yep need 4 new longer now.

and best thing is your here. search the basics and you will find lots of good info. :thumb:

Definately do crossover steering, its easy to do and you will appreciate it when you drive it. Its a world of a difference over the stock steering. Its just a steering arm for the 60 that bolts on instead of the king pin cap, a drag link, drop pitman arm and you will need a 2wd steering box,

I looked at the cross over steering I will definatly do that. What do you think about the hydraulic steering. Is it necessary and can I do it later when i hve more funds or is it something I have to do now.

You can definitely upgrade to hydraulic assist steering later, if you're looking at getting a new 2WD steering box you may want to look into getting a box that has been ported for hydraulic assist. Then you can just leave the ports plugged until you put assist on the truck.

i wouldn't run 8's even with 44's... 6", zero's, shackles, minor BL and hack to fit...
