This is my 1980 K5 Blazer I just bought... its completly stock except for exhaust and thats about it.

Right now I'm looking at getting a 6" suspension lift and 3" body lift and putting 40"'s on it.

Right now it has:

Silverado Package
350
350 turbo transmision
Exhaust system
andI think 10 bolts

I need: ?
Tires and lift listed above ^^
New Transfer case
new drive shaft
New axells?

I'm just looking for some help and suggestions on this. Pics will be up tomorrow hopefully.

(this will be used mostly for mudding, and trails)

Sounds like a good start...I live up in Krum...if you need any help on it let me know and i'll see what I can do.

I replied in your other post regarding gears and motor stuff. You should keep it in one post instead of starting a new one regarding similar questions. There are literally thousands of posts here covering what you are looking to do. Spend a little time digging around you'll be surprised how much you can learn.

As mentioned in one of your other posts, buy a set of axles from a 3/4 ton with 4.10's (you should be able to find them for $300-400). They are a direct swap, except you'll need to replace your rear u-joint with a 1310/1350 conversion joint. And of course, they're 8 lug rather than 6 lug.

If you don't think 4.10's are deep enough, invest the money in those axles.

Also, as for swapping the t-case, which one is in your truck? Either find the tag on it that lists the model or post up pictures.

Body lifts suck, but if you're really that afraid of cutting the body I suppose its a slightly better option than 3" more suspension lift.

All stock 1980 models got the NP205 with a slip yoke. I'd swap a fixed yoke on that and call it a day.

my first suggestion is - spend the money and become a member here. trust me, it is the best money i have ever spent towards anything car and truck related. for example- just reading up on using the xj steering shafts, saved me over $100 dollars on buying something else.

Nah it wasn't on craigs list. I bought it from a little used car lot that just sells 4x4's for $2000 to drive it off the lot!

Lol so I guess noone here is a big runningboards fan? I'll take em off today and put up a pic haha

Quick question...If I become a member, when you do a search on the site, is the search better? because I can't find right now searching, would I get better results if I become a member?

Yeah, full search function for paid members. Results going back as far as 2000 in some forums...

alrighty hows she look now?

:p:

Now its story time: So the dealer I bought it from had all the keys to his vehicles in a briefcase. Two days before I picked the blazer up he had his brief case stolen and lost all of his keys. Long story short he had to put all new ignitions in all of his vehicles. So when I got it I had the key to the ignition but not to the doors. So I bought new lock cylinders and were putting them in today and everything was going fine then when I got to the passenger side the damn door handle broke off :doah:. Now I have to go pick one of those up. Also a quick question on the back hatch lock.. I have the electric back window and was wondering if I had to yank out the whole system to get to the cylinder? any one know?
