80 K5 Project 454

i assume you mean cutting the fenders?

I plan on putting in 6" susp and 3" body with 40" shouldn't have to touch the fenders since I dont do any rock crawling

9" and 40's. You should be ok if your suspension doesn't move. I say should because these trucks have small front fenderwells. As your front suspension moves up it move rearward as well. The tire will contact the lower rear portion of the front fender especially if you are turning. Moving the front axle forward will help too.

If you want to keep this rig clean and not cut the sheetmetal then I would consider not wheeling it. There are tons of us on here that used to have super clean Blazers. Its a balancing act to wheel a rig you want to stay clean. It will take damage at some point and you'll regret it. If you don't care then hack away and get a lower lift:D If not maybe do a small lift and 33's or 35's and just drive it on the street. Buy a beater to wheel. Just my .02

I have a DD. This is just kinda my toy. But I want it to look decent . I dont want to just chop it up. But some fender cutting would be ok as long as its not super drastic

Beast I have a 3" body lift new in the box that came with my blazer...I was gonna put it on Ebay tomm, but if you want it $40 and it's yours.

beauty is in the eye of the beholder

Ok looked under her today and the front drive shaft is loose... How can I fix this?

Also where can I find some 3/4 ton axels? and how much would they cost? also how hard are they to instal? andthing online that would help me?

First of all you need to do some research! Someone already answered the question you just asked IN THIS THREAD! I would stick with a 1" body lift max. You can find axles on craiglist. Even with 9" of lift you are going to have to trim some fender with 40" tires unless you drive straight down the road and don't flex. As soon as you turn and start flexing your front tires will rub some. Anyways your rig looks great! Look into doing a spring swap and shackle flip. I would go with 1 ton axles if you can afford it.

BTW: what do you mean your front driveshaft it loose? Busted Ujoint? Slip joint worn out? Where is it loose?

its loose near the base of the axel. think its the slip joint but not sure.. I'm fine with trimming the fenders.. And I have looked on CL and can't find any axels... is there something I should be searching for besides just 3/4 ton axels?

If the driveshaft is moving near where it connects to the axle then I would think it is a ujoint. If it moves in the middle then I would say its a slip joint. I going to go with ujoint but if you are swaping axles and installing a lift it shouldn't matter because you are going to need new driveshafts anyway. (or just have yours made longer and have them install a new yoke for the correct ujoint for you new axle)

It doesnt have to be hacked or drastic cutting, but you will have to lose the rea part of the front fender, and as I mentioned above if you move the front axle forward it will help with the rubbing too, but then you have to cut under the park light as well.

Here is mine with the front axle 2.5" forward and ~5" of lift with 37's. They dont rub except maybe at full stuff when I'm turned. Before the axle was 1" forward they just rubbed on the inner fender.

Just a quick review

I might be going to a salvage yard pretty soon and just wanted to clear some things up.

Does it matter what year of vehicle I get the axels from? or is there a certain type of vehicle/year?

also I should get 1 ton preferably if not 3/4 ton correct?

I would go with one ton stuff. All I know as far as years go is you want to get a 1980 or newer SRW D60 in the front. I would say anything from the 80's or newer should be fine.
