80's short box, "S.E.R.E." Box permanently attached to the cab.

I love your ability to adapt/fab yourself into the "work smarter, not harder" mentality:thumb:

Thanks! Box lifter is something I probably should have built a long time ago. Glad I went ahead and built it now. Pretty helpful. Would work great with a chain hoist as well.

What's the cost for the templates and angle gauges?

Templates and gauges should work fine for 2x4x3/16" and 2x6x3/16" rectangular tubing since the outer diameters are the same, correct?

The frame is for a '76 K10 SWB. If I decide to switch over to an '81-'87 cab (extreme body damage etc. from hard core carnage) in the future will the body mounts that I fab for the '76 cab work/ line up properly with an '81-'87 cab?

I plan on using a military trailer bed as the box and using body mounts to attach it to the frame.

Haven't figure any pricing for the templates and angle gauges. Yep, same except heights obviously. Gauges and templates work great. That's how I did mine.

I believe cab mounts are the same location from one set of years to the next however the hole that the cab mount sets into is bigger for the 81-87 than it is the 76. You'd just have to leave enough room to open up the hole or continue to use the older mounts. That may require a little shimming here or there. The body bushings may be shorter or taller....

That's a lot nicer than my box lifter was, I ended up using 1 ratchet strap in each corner which was very slow. Are you going to put a cage back into the bed through the top of the cab? If not, it may flex a little more than you think, don't make the gap too small. Nice work as always Kert.

Yep, the cage will be extended into the bed area. Haven't fully committed on just how yet but stiffening things up is part of the thought process.

Speaking of holes,

The shot with the hole cut shows a lot of things that you guys haven't seen.

Trans/trans tunnel fit. It's pretty snug in there already. Keeping in mind this was a 2wd cab.

You can see the wraptor cross member and our pseudo polys.

Pretty good view of the cage. I wish my design plans had been fully realized when I designed our cage kit. Would have been much easier to build the cage if the back wall had been cut out already.

Lower cut line is subject to change. This was more of an exploratory line till I decide exactly how I'm bolting the cab and box together.

Need new cab corners.

Since I'm not so familiar with Dodge tcases and the like, what are the current gear reduction boxes available that would work behind my Getrag transmission?

Currently I don't have any "Dodge" specific transfer cases but can round something up. Just not entirely sure what I'm looking for.

I have done some research but, not much of it is very reassuring.

Where you wanting passenger drop or drivers to work with your HP60? Pretty sure they switched to the NP241 in 94 when they switched to using the nv4500 and it should be 29 spline just like the NP205 used behind the getrag in the first gens. After that I'm not sure which cases they used.

I think I'm going to have to switch to the passenger side output. Just can't see any way around it.

I know the 205 came behind this transmission and can get my hands on one of those fairly easily.

Who's building the kit that puts the planetaries from a 241 in front of a 205? chopped housing? Was thinkin' a 241 from the post 1994 dodge with a Chevy 205 behind it.

Loving the progress, Kert. Looking forward to watching this rig come together.

There are a few options for that doubler that you're talking about. The one I chose was the Behemoth Drivetrain product in kit form. Keeps the underdrive/t-case short & tidy with hella clocking options.

I'll be featuring the assembly and mock-up of it and what I'm doing in my build thread in the next couple weeks.

I do know of a guy on another forum that actually made his own 241/241 doubler, was in an S10 behind a 6.5TD not sure if it'd like the cummins torque or not though:dunno:

The 241 planetaries in a 6061 aluminum case should be plenty, plenty strong. Given, the weaker attributes of the 241 are the chain and cast aluminum case. Those weak links are taken out of the equation altogether.

The guy with the S10 will probably be okay with that 241/241 but I wouldn't even try it on a rig as heavy/torquey as Kert's will be. Think about the 2.72 torque multiplication from the doubler feeding a 241 TC. Makes me wonder how much torque the Cummins/Getrag combo makes at the tailshaft in first gear and peak RPM.... I'm curious to know that.

Also, if there were only one benefit to the Getrag, it's the 32-spline output. That means that sourcing doubler options should be a breeze and Kert has the equipment and skills to make an adapter as well as keep that adapter as short as possible. I'd look at the 241 or 271 just because of the low range IMHO.

It held u to a Linked S10 sitting on tons that he used to pull a good neck dump trailer it'd probably hold up. But the aftermarket or Kert made solution is probably the way to go

Yes, I could probably make my own but sometimes, this kinda thing doesn't make sense from a production time perspective.

Been looking at a couple of the options mentioned above. Just haven't made a decision yet. Also curious if there were something I wasn't aware of.

I read a lot of bad info on one of the options. I'll leave the name off. I'm not here to pick on anybody.

I read the same stuff and will not judge either way until I get it assembled and tested. However, I'll be happy if I get to report all good news in regards to my experience with them and help clear their name because they were thrown under the bus. It was a bad deal for a business just starting out.

If all else fails, they are 1.5 hours from me....if needed, I can go break some knee caps! j/k, but not really...lol.

If you have yours in hand, sounds like you'll be in good shape. I hear good things about the product itself.

I have helped with the behemoth doubler very cool. Not cool was the 11 months it took for the doubler to get there. Zero discount for the time delay. And behemoth still hasn't sent the shifters which were ordered at the same time

I hope this dude is getting his stuff together cause it's great stuff. Especially the newer stuff that is like 3" long

I talked to the guy (Jacob) Wednesday. Looks like he's shipping me a couple days before schedule. I certainly hope so.:dunno:

I'm through with the thread jack, Kert. Sorry!:D

Getrag 360 is 29 spline, not 32.
