80's short box, "S.E.R.E." Box permanently attached to the cab.

Couple shots of the dash and some plumbing.

Kert

You are really making me want a dash...

Any estimation on when we see this roll out of the shop?

I hope to make it to blazer bash next year. Need a few months to shake things out before hand....

That puts my target date somewhere around end of June or early July.

Spent a little time on the GM 60 that will soon be mocked up under my truck. This axle came from my crew cab.

Cut the factory shock mounts off and removed all the steering links.

When I get to the final assembly stage, i'll throw in an air locker. This one already has the right gearing for me so that's a plus.

Debating on chromo shafts. I will probably go so far as to put on the Reid Racing knuckles. If there is one breakage that I'm scared of, its the knuckles.

Shoot Kert i would put your knuckle braces on and go with it
Your not jumping right?
And we've seen those Orange knuckles break too!

Just read through this build, and it's pretty damn awesome. Couple of questions.

What ga steel did you use to make the body mounts on the frame?
What ga steel was used for the grille it looked pretty thick?
When you were looking at the hood pins. Did you consider the older style latches that didn't use a cable? I had hood pins on an old nova and it kinda sucked, esp w/ cold fingers.

All the body mounts are either 10ga. or 7ga.

The grille was made from .125" thick aluminum.

I'm not 100% certain what type of hood pins you are referring to. I looked at quite a few different styles and some are pretty cool systems. This is nice and simple and that is what I like.

Thanks for the compliments. Hope to get some more work done on it soon.

I think he meant the old style cableless OE hood latches. That you reached through the grille to operate

Kert do you have a title for the VIN on the body? Just wondered what you might run up against getting it street legal as far as the DMV is concerned?

Yep, I have a title and its already registered.

The hole in the hood is larger now. Hope to spend some more time on it today. I'm debating between a round "turbo bump" or a more angular piece.

Also working on the steering column and some electrical wiring. Some of the previous wiring didn't lend itself very well to trouble shooting so that is being rerouted.

Next project is brake lines.

Haha yeah what ever that means!
Squared w rounded edges?

This was actually is the second version. First was to tall, this one is about 3" high. First one I never bothered capping the front. I think round or very rounded corners would probably work better however, my press brake dies can only do so much. I'll have to figure out another way to form it.
