My guess would be for some kind of dash lights, which would be cool.

Actually, the switches are for a safety lockout for remote start.
I didnt like the options for doing it on the manual trans.
There are 3 in total, 1 on each tcase and one on the parking brake. All three would have to be activated for the remote start to work.

This rig has tons of overkill, so I would expect nothing less with something as simple as a switch.
I probably could have found something smaller. Originally i was thinking theyd be outside the cab which warranted a higher IP rating.
These switches have multiple functionality as well. You could use them to indicate in gear or out or both. The button is active in either position.

I have been following this thread for awhile... and I have always wondered... Have you thought about making that frame like a 1 ton frame? I’m thinking about building a short bed crewcab, but I don’t want to half up a good 1 ton frame.
I’m looking for a mall crawler type of build... that can go into the woods with my family. It may even end up with some simple coil spring setup from a different brand of truck. 4-6 inch lift. Most likely 35’s. My K10 never makes the cut on weekend trips since it is isn’t big enough to haul all of my troops with me. It may “pull” some duties for towing an occasional car or utility trailer.
Any thoughts or way a heads would be appreciated!!!

@treborjm87 i believe this truck has a rectangular tube frame.
@nvrenuf Yes Sir!!! I am just thinking it is easier to build a tube frame than to try and build a channel frame. I suppose I could bend channel somewhat, but the lockouts look like they are pretty large bends.
the reason I’m thinking 1-ton sized rails is that when I see the large built up trucks with the trick suspension, there always seems to be that space where the brackets for the links attach. If you look at the Merricks Garage K30 Blazer, he ended up having to tie into the frame with extra support. In a recent video, he was talking about that space. I’m not an engineer, but I’m thinking that if the brackets were made for a 1-ton rail, that would also drop the lower forward end of the links slightly, and also allow the upper bracket to connect lower on the side of the rail. Maybe I’m over thinking this...

work on the topper is progressing
making it fit one ton dimensions is really no more work than the 1/2-3/4 ton dimension.
I don’t see a challenge connecting brackets either way. Rectangular tubing is so much easier to work with than channel.

Pretty much. Have acquired some pieces.
Yep, I found it occupying a dark corner of the shop.
Racing season is coming to a close. Got a retro mod just about to leave the building. That should help with the time.
