81-91 K5 blazer passenger box side panel gas filler sheetmetal question

That's what I'm saying. The operators at LMC are not parts people, they are just there to answer the phones and spew out what their manual tells them. I've had my K5 for just over a year and all of my interior parts have been purchased from them.

Keep an eye on the catalog, I'm not guaranteeing it, but I'd bet it'll come available again.

It doesn't surprise me with "phone operators"..............but in that case who should I be talking to??

There's no way of telling. Their stuff changes all the time. If you don't already, have their mail catalog sent to the house. They'll put a "RE-RELEASED" (or some thing) on the item if it comes available again. I'm sure it all depends on what mould the Chinese manufacturer has set up on the machine that day. :haha:

Slade,

What is the part number that LMC uses for the fuel neck shield you purchased. I can't access that receipt you posted on here. When I get that I'll give LMC a call again.

Sorry about not being able to read the file.

Part is listed as:
Fuel Neck Cover
Part No. 32-3330
Price: 26.95

I purchased it from them 09/25/12.

Hope this helps.

Called LMC, gave them the part number........they said it is no longer available. I asked how long ago it was discontinued, and person didn't know..........go figure.

This is strange indeed....I ordered some parts from Classic Parts 6 months ago and that part showed up in their latest printed catalog (Cat #5, Vol 14). When I tried plugging the number into their website it comes up as non-existent (but the gasket is still there). Probably use the same supplier as LMC.

Do like I'm doing, strip the paint off clean it good and fiberglass the whole thing, both sides, two layers. Use mat.

Sorry Dude,
I keep looking, but they just aren't selling them right now.
I'm sure that they'll EVENTUALLY put them back up.

Cover Part Number

I bought mine from LMC years ago, but have yet to paint it, so I can still read the tags. At the time, the LMC part number was 32-3330 and the GM part number was 00476916. LMC doesn't seem to have it, but maybe the GM part number will help those looking for it.

I need t replace the fuel filler neck just under the cover. Does anyone know where these can be purchased? Thanks in advance!

price went up $10 bucks for what reason? Guess they have never had to filla K5 up on a empty tank!

All you guys looking for it caused the price increase! See how you all are.

What is the process of removing the cover? Mine is corroded and I got a new one. It seems like its glued on, in addition to the screws around the perimeter. Kind of a sensitive area with gas and fumes etc. I was thinking of a heat gun. What techniques did you guys use? I also have the foam weather strip for it, do you suggest using that or just RTV'ing it down?

Thanks!

Removing it can be a pain in the ass if the rust didn't get under the original caulking. I used a chisel.
The last one I changed came off with a tap and had plenty of rust underneath.
Good luck.
And I usually use some kind of caulking to seal off any fumes.
