So I just replaced the sending units on my 82 6.2 non military. The bed is off the truck so I was able to access from the top. Question is do I need to do some kind of air bleeding procedure before starting it up. When I removed the soft lines to get the unit out the whole system released quite a bit of air. Don't no much about these diesels.

You will need to bleed the air out. The easiest way is to buy a cheap inline electric fuel pump. Either in addition too or bypassing the factory lift pump.

I am posting from my cell phone so I won't be able to give you step by step instructions though.
