I have no clue, but there are many people that have swapped the newer more powerful Warn winch motors onto thier 8274's. That may be something for you to look into.

Find a place that works on electric motors. I had one of the oooold warn winch motors rebuilt by such a company. It was basically a starter motor from a '40s to 50's car. Can't recall how much, but thinking under $100

I picked up one of the newer 4.5 hp motors from DB Electrical. It was almost twice as powerful as the original motor. I think it ran around $170 with shipping.
Had a guy worked for me that swapped in a Furd starter motor. Not sure of the year but it was off an F-150 from before '85.
