85k5witha6.2 submitted a new Build:

83/09 4bt K5 (BB2016)

I've read just about every build thread on here and decided to put up some pictures of my blazer.

Bought it from my grandpa 4 years ago when I was 15 with a snowplow on the front and sold the plow for what I paid for the blazer. I don't have any pictures of it stock when I got it, had a 6.2 700r4/208 and half ton axles. Put a 6 inch lift and 36 inch military tires on it and wheeled it like that for quite a while.

After breaking the 44 a couple times I found a set of Dana 60s on craigslist for $700 for the pair. Put them under and wheeled it that way for a while, the 4.10 gears made a big difference from the 3.08s that were in it:woot:

Almost rolled it quite a few times, the last picture being at about 3 A.M. and 4 miles from my shop. Luckily I had just put a locker in the front so it would climb right out of the hole, unluckily I had taken the front driveshaft. so we had a 8 mile walk that night.

The diesel did pretty good on fuel and was nice for climbing, but didn't have a whole lot of power:dunno:

So it got taken out and sold to a friend of mine.

Built one of the big blocks we had laying around, nothing special, 4 bolt main, cast crank, RV cam and peanut port heads. To replace the 700r4/208 I swapped in a th400/205 that one of my dad's friend had given me for free.

I drove it maybe 6 or 7 blocks the night I got it done and then pulled it back into the shop for the night.

We had a grill out of an 09 Silverado I thought would look pretty cool in it so I set it in to see what it would look like and my dad said sarcastically "you might as well put the headlights in too" so I got out the sawzall.

And this is about how it sits as of now....

I'm not a fan of the grille.

Dodge Dana 60 I am assuming?

Ever take it to Harlan County Reservoir?

Yep! Dodge Dana 60, external lockouts, they stick out a long ways so we will see how long they last, I go to Harlan all the time, Orleans is only about 15 miles away, mostly go to the trails just south of town tho. And not everyone is a fan of the front end haha.

Yeah, I know where it is, that's why I asked. My fiancee's father keeps his camper there all summer. A kid I know with a Jeep, said it is pretty fun down there. More so a few years ago when the lake got crazy low. Where are you going to school?

Yea the trails used to be a lot better but I was driving a 4 wheeler back then haha, Im going to UNL

Got most of the body work done on the front end and hopefully have it painted in the next couple days, not perfect body work but good enough for me, still need to make bumpers and rock sliders and then get the backup cameras mounted

I did not know what to think about this to begin with. It's looking better than i thought it would, but i'm waiting for some color

I think it's going to look pretty cool. I've seen late model front clips installed on these Blazers, but this is the first one I've seen grafted together like this. You may start a new trend. :thumb:

Oh i think it looks cool, don't get me wrong. I just want to see it in one color or whatever he has planned for paint. He is making it come together for sure :waytogo:

I think it looks like a Bronco now. Anyone else see it. If you go white, it might look like OJ's infamous ride in the 90's!?!

I was thinking the same just didn't want to be the first to say it. But it's growing on me.

It did look like a Bronco in the one pic. I was thinking that but didn't want to offend. Maybe that's why I subconciously wanted it to be white. :doah:

How did you go about mounting the headlights and wiring for them? Or were you just doing the body work first then addressing that? I think it doesn't look half bad either. Definitely different and does have a slight Bronco look from the side. But I give it a thumbs up! My vote for paint would be black or red with black accents(grille, rims, etc.)

the headlights are mounted pretty secure but will be better later, and have not yet wired them, just going to buy new plugs and wire up, for paint im going to use black raptor liner, i have heard quite a few people say it looks slightly like a bronco haha
