Dumb question here, but do the springs ever hit your tail pipes? When I did my dual exhaust I ran the pipes out behind the shackles because I was scared that they would get mashed by the springs when they compressed. I know that the stock tail pipe ended where you have yours at. Just wondering.

No, the tailpipes cleared no problem with the shackle flip, even with the spring flat there is room because the shackle flip sticks down far enough the spring can't travel that far up in the back.

The one tailpipe is dented from when the exhaust hanger broke though during the fiasco. Once the hanger broke the tailpipe came down and smacked the leaf spring.

Okay thanks. I may reroute mine back to that location then because the tailpipes definately get caught on the ground and stuff sometimes where they're at now.

Health: Don't let them talk you into cutting up that truck. Man it sure is purdy. I vote fix the frame, strengthen, link, and poke the shocks threw the bed floor. Then you still have a bed to use, a SUPER clean red truck, and an ass end that will stay put next time.

Well, I already had the frame straightened back in august, cost me 500 something. The good thing is the frame is straight, and it straightened the bed floor back out too. The bad news is, once the frame and bed were straight, I then realized the cab is bent too. It bent the cab around the frame in the back, the sides bent down and the middle buckled forward a little on the bottom in the very back. You can see the bed doesn't line up with the back of the cab, however the bed line does line up with the front of the front fenders. So now I need to see if I can bend that back too, I tried it in the driveway but it just kept jacking the whole truck way up, and with the boards I was using and the gas tanks in the way I gave up becuase it wasn't safe, and the frame needs to be held down to the ground so it doesnt just uncompress the suspension what seems like forever with a jack.

I just used it that way since it's just cosmetic, the doors still shut fine and everything. Eventually I will try to bend the cab back if possible with the right equipment, and probably cage it and link the back, but it might be a while.

I have come to the conclusion that it's just cosmetic, everything still works fine. So I have just been enjoying the truck the way it is currently. Eventually I'll try and fix it but for now I'll just keep having fun with it, no more whoops for a while though! I can still wheel it in the meantime, just take it easy on the bumps, etc, so I don't bend the frame again before I cage it. Still pulls the boat fine, although the boat is in storage now anyway.

I still plan to cage it and link the rear, probably keep the bed and poke the shocks through the floor. But it's going to have to wait a year or so now. Not ready to do it yet.

I have been using the truck and I hope to make it wheeling a few times this year at the dunes and/or bundy. I'll just have to take it slower on the rough stuff. I am sure the frame is weaker now and I don't want to bend it again before I brace it.

Thank you very much for that offer, that would be awesome someday, but unfortunately it won't be this season, too much other stuff going on. It'll probbaly be at leat a year before I can tear the truck apart that far again. I'll be able to do a little work on it and maintain it, but I won't have the luxury to leave it apart for several weeks like I would need to for that project.

Summer wheelin' at the dunes

Figured I'd show some stuff from when I took it out to silver lake back in May with my wife, met Adam and Craig there with their rigs.

A couple other rigs we met there. The red one had a huge lift and 40s with a 454, TH400/NP208 and 1/2 ton axles. The blue one had a fully boxed frame, internal cage, 430 ci big block Buick V8 with aluminum heads on race gas, TH400/NP205, D60/14BFF, and a custom 4 link front suspension with coilovers on 33s. We had the hoods up talking suspension (yeah it's weird having to pop the hood to look at the whole suspension).

I recorded Adam racing his friend craig, I guess the new converter is working good!

Adam recorded me racing the blue Chevy. He had paddles and liked 2WD, but seemed to have the same issue I did with that type of paddle, a lot of spinning, the sweet thing was he kept going after the race and launched it ~2 ft in the air at ~70 MPH. I thought about trying that but used my better judgement after last time since I have no cage yet and the frame isn't reinforced either.

And my wife recorded me launching a couple times just so I could see the truck launch to watch the suspension work and look for anything that needed changing...

Then went back in July with my brother and father and BIL, another friend of the family, and also got to wheel with Adam and craig again too. Don't have many pics that time because the wife wasn't with. But I got a couple pics and my BIL got some vids on his phone...

Packed up and ready to head home. My BIL had his 450R honda, my Dad didn't have the Willy's ready to go, but he did buy this rolled 09 Trailblazer SS. ~400 hp 6.0L LS engine with a torsen transfer case. He cut the roof off and replaced the axle and brake rotor and the wheels from the PO crash, and then his brother and him bent up a cage quick before the trip. My brother also had nis brand new Polaris RZR XP4 900 in the while trailer, but I don't have any pics or vids of it. Handled awesome out there with that killer suspension.

The thing was actually pretty fast with that stock engine and the weight he took out of it...

Adam got in on the action too, his truck was running much better than before.

Now sometime soon I have to go back and fix the rest of the thread since I lost all my pictures because I ditched comcast, which is where they were hosted previously.

You were right, I posted the videos up months later! Been busy, finally got time to get them online. And teh sneaky pic I found on the camera, but I didn't know if everyone could take your mug shot that close to the screen! ha ha

Thank you. This is the first time my truck has ever been on a trailer since I've owned it, was weird for me. But it was nice not having to drive it back buzzing the engine, especially since it was 90 that day and I obviously don't have AC in there.
