'83 K5 6.2L Diesel 64" rear springs. 3/4 ton axles. rear discs. Boring but works!

Got the old blazer a new home this past weekend. Need to paint the walls and floor then move all my crap over from the rental. These are from the listing agent. None of that crap is in it now but I haven't got around to taking my own pics yet. It's 30'x40' with two 9'x10' doors and a 9' overhang out back.

Very cool Luke!!! I would be happy with that garage!
Thanks, The wife gets the one on the house. That door is too short anyway. Stayed up til like 1:30 in the morning painting the wife's garage. She was nice and helped too. I need to do some semi-gloss white on the walls. It's just drywall primer right now. The thing looked like a dark cave before.

Painting the floor always helps with lighting too.

What springs are you going with now?

I was going to do 52s but ended up scoring a set of 4" lift Pro Comp front springs for $90 bucks locally. My current setup has 3 leaves and the new springs have 5 so I'm hoping it will ride and flex better plus get the nose down about 2" from what it currently is. I need to get some greaseable bushings from ORD and new u-bolts and move my FUSH back to the stock location. I'm just trying to get the floor cleaned and painted in the shop this week so I can bring everything over from the other house and them maybe after Easter I can move the blazer in and tear it down.

Something like that home/shop setup is exactly what we are looking for over on this side of the state. My wife and I lived in Rigby when we were finishing college (those rows of 4-plex apartments right next to the Wendy's off that last exit)...I always liked that little town. If our jobs were on that side we would probably buy a home in/around Rigby too.

We are starting to look pretty heavily now. In and around Boise/Meridian it's the typical tract home crap, but just outside of there most every home already has a nice shop next to it as well. Prices have gone up a little bit over on this side of the state too, but not near as bad as where we came from (Colorado), so to us its all still pretty cheap!

Yeah lots of Rigby is all that new house crap. You prob wouldn't even recognize it with how much it has grown. This one was built in '95 on a dead end street and all 2 ac lots. I will prob be coming over to Meridian in the end of April. My wife's nephew is staying with us and then going to lineman school over there so we might cruise over when he moves. I've never been to that side of the state yet.

Loving the shop! I'm looking at building a bigger shop myself soon, so I'm eyeballin' everyones shops now for ideas.

Thanks. I'm hoping someday in the distant future to add a lift if I can. There's lots of ceiling height. This looks like a pole barn that they insulated and made nicer. I love the loft for storage. I might open up another doorway into the room under the loft so I can rool engines and stuff in there and use it for a "clean" room for rebuilding stuff. The only dumb thing I've noticed so far is that because of the pole barn beams the one garage door on the end is right up against the end wall so you don't have any room to work on that side of a vehicle parked there but for me it will be plenty of room anyway.

Thanks for the details. Since I'll be building from scratch (hopefully), that's all stuff I need to keep in mind.

Yep, that's a good idea to find out all the positives and negatives other people have run into especially on a budget shop build and if you have space constraints. There's a lot of houses with humongous shops up here that cost more than a normal house I bet. I'll have to see how I like it once I get all my stuff moved over. I am glad to have the separate garage to keep lawn and garden stuff in and the kids toys and bikes and I also have a few freezers and an extra fridge. Before I always had to cram all that crap in the garage plus all my automotive stuff. I will also be able to store my four wheelers and side x side under the overhang out back so that will also free up a lot of space.

That all sounds so nice! haha

I'll snap a picture tonight, but my mower and quads sit outside under my deck right now. And all my other vehicles and camper are sitting outside too. I dream of the day that even half of my stuff is in a dry building.

You'll get there. I was like that a few yrs ago before I got this job I have now. I had a small house with a little shed and no garage or carport just a cement pad to work on. It all works. Just keep building your shit and having fun.
