'83 K5 6.2L Diesel 64" rear springs. 3/4 ton axles. rear discs. Boring but works!

We routinely pull 70,000 lbs of semi and grain trailer to town with one. Awesome engines!

What is that?
Mechanically injected International DT466. They come in medium duty trucks. They are 466 cubes but they also have a 530 cid version. They use the same block so you can take a 466 which is easier to find and build it to be a 530 cid and the good ones have a Bosch inline pump just like the 12 valve dodges. They can make 3000 hp in pulling trucks. Factory parts you can get 300 hp and prob about 1000 lb ft. They are just big and HEAVY. I have seen a guy put a DTA360(older, smaller, lighter) version in a super duty on the interwebs once.

I am well aware of what a 466 is.
James is going to shake his head when he sees I had to ask. I don't know if I was having a brain fart or not, but I didn't recognize what it was in the picture.(Maybe it's because I like the red ones)

James can tell you about my love for a 466.
My neighbor has one in a 97 f350 dually
I also knew of a guy with one in a square as well. But I don't run around those parts much any more ( up in Wisconsin) and don't know what happened to it or the guy. ( I would assume it was pulled out and put back into a 66/86 IH tractor where it belonged.

No, a dt466 is a real man's engine... The first diesel I ever drove was a dt466.... The first truck diesel I drove was a 6.2. That deeslow never stood a chance...

But your right we have been talking about that crap ass 6.2 in every thread lately.
Let's fix that with some 406 goodness....

Yeah the tractor ones are way different looking. The one I want is specific to like certain 96 or 97 trucks. They have the newer aluminum front gear housing and newer aluminum valve cover/intake manifold. The older ones got big cast iron front covers and a crappy stamped steel valve cover. It's right in the same yrs they went to the heui injector and electronics so you can't go by yr when looking for one you have to actually see it.

I like the tractor ones, my old mans 1466 has a 466 swapped in. Originally it should be a 436. it shoots smoke rings on cold mornings. So cool... It's turned up a bit. Plenty of power for an open station tractor.

Ended up only making it an hr away and then it started raining hard and the wife was stressing over towing a really full car trailer with a side x side, two full size atvs, and two kids atvs so we left the blazer at one of my work locations and just took her vehicle and the trailer. Blazer will go next trip.
