83 K5 Blazer Build

Had my surgery today ended up being 5-1/2 hours on the operating table and 6 hours on bed rest in the hospital but I was able to come home same day and will be ready to get back to work Thursday!

Glad to hear you're home and on the road to recovery
Get some rest, wrench later
I would squeeze a long weekend out of that one!

Unfortunately I work Saturday and Sunday but I'm off until then so I'm hoping I may have the springs installed by Saturday! Then the only thing needed to get it driveable is to get the steering column rebuilt.

Got the springs painted yesterday. Still need to get a new centering pin to get the pack back together.

Going to bolt the "deformed" 07 main leaf into the pack and see how it looks if there are any gaps I will clean up the 95 main leaf and order new bushings.

However, these springs could be put on hold. I got a new job yesterday and I would say there is a 95% chance I will be having to move down to the border town of Del Rio, TX for 8 months. I would really like to take the k5 and have it driveable as there is a lake and a lot of rocks in that area, but I don't have the time or money to get the 64s installed before I leave as the gas tank will not clear with the new springs. So my plan is to try and find a decent set of 56" springs so I can just bolt them up and go.

On a side note my column parts will be in tomorrow and I will have that fixed Sunday afternoon.

SCORE! Just got a phone call replying to my Craigslist add, old man has a truck bed with some 56" springs but it's full of mufflers and exhaust pipes said if I come unload the truck bed for them I can have the springs for free! Told him I can be there Sunday afternoon to unload the truck bed and pull them!

No real updates to post have been working 80 hours a week trying to get enough money to buy a house and get out of this apartment won't be much work if any for a good 2 months or more.

Got some work done on the blazer today one step closer to being driveable again.
First the old springs came out

My U-Bolts were the wrong size so they are strapped on for now until the new ones come in.

And the final stance looks so much better now! Not sagging to one side and the back is actually taller than the front now.

Still need to put the U-Bolts on and bolt the shocks back up. Then on to putting the steering column back together and fixing up my gauges to have it street legal again.

Haven't had any time to work on the truck but have been trying to compile parts when I can. Thanks to 73k5blazer I have a set of rear Bilsteins that will be quite the improvement.

Am going to take it and put it in a vise tomorrow see if I can't get that bolt out of there. Will also trim the passenger side u bolts so I can get the impact on them. I don't go back to work until Wednesday so there is a possibility she might be going for a cruise? ;) we'll see!

Well...working 70 plus hours a week not including a 2-3 hour commute one way every day has left no time for the blazer. Not to mention I just signed a contract to have a house built this past Wednesday (means I will actually have a garage to work in!). The house should be move in ready around the first of April...and it can't come fast enough! My work hours should slow down after the first of the year and I plan to get the blazer back up and running before we move to the new house so I can start upgrades rather than fixing. To get her back on the road I'm looking at a new steering column and to do something with my brakes (which should be taken care of due to the hydroboost from caveman). So with that said I'm still looking for a steering column if anyone has one in good condition let me know.
