84 crew cab build begins

Shifter bracket and linkage

Here's the tranny and transfer case bolted together, with the 4x4 shift linkage completed. It's pretty much the stock Dodge linkage shortened a bit.

Here at this point "Big Blake" as my truck became known as, is almost ready to run enough to drive in and out of the shop. The exhaust was the final piece needed to accomplish this. I made the down pipe out of an original dodge one (out of the donor truck) and several 3" 45 degree bends. I wanted to go 4" all the way, but clearance between the frame and transfer case prevented that. All in all it came out pretty good, opens up to 4" right past the t-case, goes to a 4" straight through muffler, and a 4" downspout. A full tailpipe will go on it when i have a chance to modify a stock duramax one.

I also believe i forgot to mention, this engine and tranny combo are not the ones out of my 86 K20. The K20 "Greeny" was sold in June of last year, and i Bought another complete drivetrain for Blake. Hindsight being 20/20 I kind of wish i had taken Greeny apart, as all the bugs had been worked out and it ran better than this one does.

Here's Blake after the first drive out of the shop under his own power. woohoo!! The other shots show the dodge seat being mounted (which was no easy task, but well worth the time spent on it) Both seats adjust independently of each other, the console/middle seat does not adjust but has the functional original slide out cupholder under it.

what did you end up doing with the radiator and cooling fan setup?
I hear the 94-98 12v setup is too long to work with a radiator in the stock location and a 89-93 fan hub needs to be used which is impossible to find.

It's a tight fit, 4 core is not an option. Stock cummins fan clears a stock gm 3 core by about 3/4"-1" and cools it just fine.
