Let me just say this won't be your typical crew cab build. I was looking for a crew cab and ended up with two. One is a nice rust free 4wd crew and the other is a rusty 2wd crew. This build is about the rusty 2wd crew. It is more of an experiment than anything else. It started life as a dually but I sold the bed and bought a short box. Always wanted to try the 14" removal of frame behind the cab and turn it into a short crew. Here's some pics.

Are you going to keep it 2wd? Nice start!
The thought of converting to 4wd has come up but it rides pretty nice as a 2wd. So, the idea is to try it out like this for awhile and see how it goes. There are plenty of other things on this truck that need attention first... like fuel tanks. The tanks that were on it were both shot. One was a mess and didn't even have the filler to put fuel in. The other one had been patched a couple of times to the point where the fuel filter was clogging up with rust. The idea of putting a bigger Blazer or Suburban tank in there is appealing. But for now, a short bed saddle tank will have to do. Maybe do a dual tank set up with both later on. Just trying to have some fun with it for now. Did I mention it has a SM465?

Nice...so what's the overall goal of this one? And let's see some pics of the 2nd 4wd crew!!

The goal of this one is just to use as a tow rig/dump run truck/kid hauler until the 4wd one is ready. It is getting a transplant. Nothing like yours but I will start a thread when the progress starts. Here are some pics of that one.

d44 in the front for sure (can see the two u-bolts on the pumpkin side)....and though I can't see the pumpkin on the rear, based off the hub hanging out of the rim....d70? (obviously that hub could mean 14bff as well...which I think is more likely but just taking a guess here)

Nice work. D70 dually rear and D44 front. The front hubs are what has me wondering. Guessing they came off of a full time 4wd 70s rig.

Do the gears match? haha

I was pretty confident in my guess when I looked at the picture again and noticed the rear rims are stock rims, but the tire/rim looks to be hanging far out from the fender like an offset rim...which made me think it was a dually axle....so d70 was the only logical choice.

The truck is a pretty good foundation for what I want to do with it. There are some low mileage CUCV axles for it in the garage. But yeah, it would just be luck of the draw if the gear ratios matched on the axles that are in it now.
